About the The Scottish Football Monitor

The purpose of The Scottish Football Monitor is to pay homage to, and carry on the work of the groundbreaking RangersTaxCase blog (RTC). The aim of the Scottish Football Monitor is to cast a questioning and watchful eye on Scottish Football officialdom and the compliant mainstream media (MSM).

Scottish football, in the immediate wake of the Rangers FC liquidation, faces great challenges. The MSM have provided no sensible checks or balances on the actions of the authorities. The Scottish Football Monitor aims to provide those checks and balance.

The cosy relationship that has existed between the media and people at the top of Scottish Football has dissuaded those who may otherwise be moved to blow the whistle on wrongdoing. The Scottish Football Monitor aims, through time, and by winning the trust of ordinary fans, to fill a gap in the football media in Scotland that has been up to now filled only by RTC.

The Rangers FC saga, its consequences, and consequences of the accompanying stream of untruths and misdirection fed to us by the MSM is far from over. RTC was successful in getting the previously buried truth of the Rangers tax case into the mainstream despite a hostile MSM reaction. The Scottish Football Monitor hopes to use the skills and expertise of those in our community to a cast light on matters that those in authority would have concealed, or at least present alternative arguments to those being presented as having none.

Scottish Football Monitor asks contributors to remember only a few things;

1. The site is not the domain of any one club and is open to fans of all clubs.

2. Absolutely no discussion with regard to religion should take place.

3. Posters should refrain from using foul or abusive language.

  1. Posted this on RTC in reply to query about trialists v Brechin

They were played as trialists as they were not registered.I e-mailed the SFL for clarification on playing trialists in Cup competitions. The Rules for the Challenge Cup state Players taking part in the Competition must be registered in terms of Scottish Football League Rules as appropriate.
The same rule applies to the League Cup.For the Scottish Cup the SFA Rules state 17. Compulsory Registration of Players
Subject to Rule 15 above, a player may not take part in a tie in the Competition without having been registered prior to such tie, with the Association, for the club for which he is to play
Only REGISTERED players can play in these CUP competitions IMO
Trialists are only mentioned in the Rules as playing in CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES
    PLAYING OF PLAYERS WITHOUT REGISTRATION
No more than two Trialists from any grade of football may be allowed to
play, or be listed as a substitute for any club in any Championship match
up to and including 31st March in any season.
Guess this is all irrelevant as RULES only apply to other clubs eh?
Has anyone else any thoughts on this?

  2. Good luck with the new site.catch up time.good to see the old familiar names.

I believe he did say so and it is so easy to disprove and Regan has had the opportunity to do so but has failed to. Somebody at Rangers or the SFA told porkies or ignored the rules.

  4. Great to hear that the SPL will have an independent panel to investigate and render judgement on dual contracts 2000-2011
Will this lead to McCoist demanding that the members be named and shamed and that they and their families be terrorised by the Larkhall demented.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.
Revenge can be sweeter than succulent lamb.
    Revenge for being called paranoid.
Revenge for being denied titles and prizemoney and places in Europe
Revenge for being cheated off the field
Revenge for years of frugality and talent versus corruption and perfidy.
    Sweet sweet vengence.

  5. Tuped over,
Can the SFA/SFL not see the problems they face with the The Rangers supporters in the coming weeks. After the Brechin songfest its only going to get worse, jeez, we had Yorkie and Swally saying how great the fans were….. If they had any balls (SFL/SFA & Newco management) they would put out a strong statement stating any singing of banned songs will be met with an immediate points penalty, it wont happen but its going to come back and bite them in the arse…. of course thats if the The Rangers survive that long.

  6. Checking back, D+P said on 14 June another 8 to 10 weeks in administration. If they can stick to that original timescale – that 8-10 week period ends between Thursday’s 9th up to 23th August. That timeline may be extended due to D+P prepping the COI report, LH assessing it, and possibly issuing a statement, depending on any interactions with the CO investigations probe that followed LHs original instruction. So there could be some drama / push back delay either way before RFC [still in administration] finally enters the official RFC liquidation phase. Then again, they may want to get the Administration element all over with quickly officially appointing BDO but planned to wait till the season was well underway so real stories could be hidden under the standard MSM “sports” diversions. Sevconians first league game is the 11th so I`m tending towards a 9-10 week administration period post “sale” ending 23 August before the BDO fun and games begin but we`ll see. Patience is patently a virtue in this saga

Falkirk give up seats for cash

Falkirk have decided to surrender part of their main stand to Rangers for their Ramsdens Cup tie later this month as they look to maximise revenue from the tie.

A club spokesperson said: “Falkirk fans will be allocated the south stand with Rangers fans in the north stand. The main stand will be shared and will be segregated to ensure maximum safety and convenience for all the supporters.”

  8. On behalf of everyone who would care to give this comment a thumbs up, can I just throw a bit of praise in the direction of Stunney. Great comments from him/her(?) and a dedication to sharing relevant news articles from online sites like no other – I’ve sometimes copied things over from newspaper sites and it can be a real pain to edit them to make them read sensibly due to the presence of pictures, captions and sub headings etc. Thank you Stunney.

Now on the topic of your gravitar, its got to be the most enigmatic one on this site although it does slightly give me the wullies. Can you let us know who it is or where from?

TSFM – thanks for removing the facemasks.

  9. Goodbye RFC hello SFM leets keep up all the good work.

  10. So, Son of Rangers Tax Case or Sevco SPL EBT Case or ICBINR Player Registration Case or Govan United Disrepute Case or Rangers IL Sectarian Chanting Case is alive and kicking.

Having missed the birth and much of the development of the father, it gives me immense pleasure to be present on or about the birth of the offspring.

Further proof that the internet bampots will prevail, because in the long run the belief in positive ideals will always outlive the motivation to prop up a corrupt and cynical system.

On a selfish note, can I also offer a heartfelt request that Stunney continue to get the papers in. It makes life so much easier when I’m checking in from China.

By the way, I haven’t spotted much social unrest on the streets of Shanghai as a result of millions of anguished Chinese Rangers supporters hitting the streets in protest since their club died.

  11. Can I come in? Tried several times on rtc blog n nae luck

  12. So we’re up? We’re running?

    Yeehaw!

Boundless gratitude and admiration to TSFM for nobly picking up the baton.

As for RTC, what we owe him/her/them cannot adequately be expressed. The very thought leaves me moved beyond words.

Now, what’s Graverobber FC up to these days, and its concomitant corruption…?

    Onwards!

    Per ardua ad astra.

  13. Great transition to The SFM!

I have promised myself not to clutter the blog with my amatuerish observations and anecdotes. However, as the SFM begins, a wee thought regarding the copying and pasting of copyrighted material on the blog.

Most publications have terms and conditions. At the risk of coming across as a po-faced Holy Willie it may be worthwhile checking these. This is part of The Scotsman’s Terms & Conditions:

“We provide Material on the Site solely for your personal use and the reproduction of the whole or any part of the Site, except for any temporary copies made necessarily in downloading the Site, for purposes other than private and personal use, is prohibited, as is distributing, displaying or copying the Site, unless it is for the personal use of a third party.

“No part of the Site can be reproduced on, transmitted to or stored on any other web site or other form of electronic retrieval system, nor may any part of the site be accessed in such manner as to make it appear part of any third parties web site without our prior written consent.”

The second paragraph sort of spells it out.

I love the newspaper round-ups and have really appreciated the efforts (bravo stunney), but I’m not sure it’s wise to copy and paste entire articles and post them, especially here. It’s perhaps stretching the definition of personal use, even of a ‘third party’. There’s also the ethos of the blog to think about. You can imagine the headlines: “Moral bampots misuse copyrighted material”. Since this site is not exactly in awe of the MSM, and they know it, it might be wise to tread carefully regarding the use of their material.

Linking to an article and posting short quotes is one thing, but the wholesale copying of entire articles is not something I’ve ever been comfortable with. Of course, I may be a bit oversensitive since I work with online publishing – so you’re welcome to shoot me down in flames.

Taking the moral high ground, especially against the MSM, means you don’t want to leave yourself open to any claims of hypocrisy and/or a lack of morality when it comes to using their material.

Just a thought. I’ll get me sackcloth and ashes …

A prima facie case presented by Harper McLeod, while being only that, would be a difficult finding to dismiss, or attempt to gloss over…. The sanctions that would be required in this case, while hard to imagine , if applied to SevCo, would have to be terminal, one way or another

    ———————————————————————————————————————

By the time the Independent Commission makes it’s report, Sevco will have sold all the seasons tickets it could hope to sell. The bears will have either identified with the new “rangers” or have decided to spend their Saturday afternoons elsewhere. A perfect time for Sevco to divest itself of the toxic history and to embrace it’s future as the new rangers. No history = no sanctions. It’s like going to confession….no sins…a bright future and a great determination to “sin no more”.

Or perhaps I’m getting too close to religion. If so…abject apologies.

And perhaps, coming home from the pub is not the best time to add my thoughts.

    ———————————
Yes, TBK, SSB does count (even if it can’t count)

It happened to drift across my airwaves the other night and I was astonished to hear Speirs & Keevins agreeing with some well-spoken Sevco fan – Alison? – that it was tantamount to bigotry for Celtic to advertise “125 years of unbroken history”.

She was saying in her posh accent that she hoped the new leaf Scottish football had turned over (eh?) would stop the sectarianism and the A&E units being full but this provocative statement from the Celtic PR team was turning the clock back and a sad indictment on Scotland in the 21st century.

So having originally considered to take a sabbatical from posting, I decided that now more than ever we are required to be on the alert and make Scottish football journalism responsible at every opportunity.

It was heartening to see the two fuds at Real Radio being laid off – Frank McGuire (aka Peter Martin – let’s not forget the story behind that) and Derek (“Celtic had their own sectarian signing policy too, ye know…..”) Johnstone, as they shut down their farce of a phone in.

Now in terms of radio the focus has to be on SSB and the more undesirable (unpalatable, fatty lamb?) elements of BBC Sportsound.

Let’s bring quality and fairness back into our sporting journalism.

To paraphrase Jock Stein, papers without readers are nothing. 🙂

  16. Probably too late to suggest this but I thought the old blog was at its best when the satire was biting and the banter was flowing. My humble suggestion for a name would be ‘Not The Rangers Tax Case’.

Ps gutted that the old site was gone, I don’t think anyone will realise just how groundbreaking it was or the impact it had for a few years- a staggering achievement by RTC.

  17. TSFM (PL)

I’d just like to add my thanks to you for taking on the mantle from RTC – good luck, and I’m certain the blog will be a success, particularly with the help of the ‘usual suspects’.

The question was asked last night re: Tennents and their sponsorship of the team formerly known as Rangers.

    A couple of wee snippets from CU and KDS;

    Celtic Underground ‏@celticrumours
Rumours Tennents will release a statement tomorrow stating that Celtic will be focus of their new deal. Will retain a “presence” with Sevco.

  18. Ray Charles.

Thanks for posting the team sheet. Great times.

Thats some line up and hopefully we retain the full squad, football teams evolve however and if we lose a big name or two, then that provides a place for some up and coming talent to step up to the plate.

I think we can get rid of the sub though, he’s never going to make it that boy.

    P.S

If adam is back in the 1990’s and unable to access the internet, will he be able to join the blog after the transfer window closes.

  19. Independent commission appointed to look into alleged EBT payments

The Scottish Premier League yesterday announced that it has appointed an independent commission to inquire into alleged Employee Benefit Trust payments and arrangements made by Rangers in relation to players during the period from 2000 until 2011.

    http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/independent-commission-appointed-to-look-into-alleged-ebt-payments.18341334
    =============================================================
The original investigation was into Dual Contracts and the registration requirements of these with the SPL & the SFA.
This investigation explicitly mentions EBT’s therefore any further misdemeanours found can be ignored if they were carried out by non EBTS scheme.
This is a completly different enquiry scope and is nothing but noise and subterfuge.
Rangers will never be punished for this, the company who will go to liquidation shortly will get blamed and that will be it.
Rangers now have new owners and a new club, move along quietly and support Scottish football will be the MSM angle.

  20. On the scope of potential sanctions, SPL titles and SFA Scottish Cups have been mentioned and many have asked about SFL League cups – assuming that the SFL need to investigate/ conclude and sanction on those, why can the SPL do likewise on SFA Scottish Cups? Will any SFL findings and action create a benchmark and precedent for all other clubs to observe – or will it quickly be shoved behind the big clock on the mantelpiece and talked of no more?

And given Sevco’s SFL membership status (associate? with no history in that body – or in the world in general, they are new-born), can the SFL investigate them in the same way as they might other clubs?
Actually, on writing this, can someone clarify on what basis SPL clubs play in the SFL League Cup – invitation? If so, is this invitation given on the assumption that the invitee meets/ complies with all SFA articles and rules?

Wouldn’t it have been cleaner – and maybe better for the game in general – for the SFA to have appointed a separate, independant body to regulate/investigate all club contract issue. Have they not created a difficult place for themselves by wishing to be seen only as the appellant body? Have the SFA dodged this because it would have placed Campbell Ogilvie in the glaring daylight? Are we going to get a fudged up resolution to this to protect the SFA from more embarrasment and CO from further scrutiny?

If this was all kicked about on RTC I do apologise.

    Enjoy the day.

I will be supporting your efforts to ensure a level playing field in the future.

  23. The SFA are doing a Pontius Pilate. They either know their own rules or they don’t.

The issue is not difficult. Rangers either did or did not register football payments to players via EBT schemes. If they did not register these payments then they breached SFA rules and the SFA can then decide, if they so wish, that Rangers (IL) should be posthumously punished.

There is no need to appoint a commission to ask the principle question. They could have done this months ago and are just trying to spin this out.

  25. The McCoist situation is very interesting.

Charles Green sees McCoist as a vital link to the supporters (ticket sales) and ‘offers’ him a 25 year contract, if he wishes, whilst McCoist plays to the galleries by publically refusing to accept any stripping of titles (ticket sales).

If clear evidence confirming the existence of dual contracts is uncovered by the SPL or FTTT, it could be most uncomfortable for McCoist given that he was at the club in a managerial capacity during the period in question and not to know anything about the side contracts would be hard swallow. This, of course, relies on prudent questions being put to McCoist by the media (no laughing at the back).

The link with the past then becomes uncomfortable and I wonder if Charles Green is giving his manager enough rope so that McCoist will have no option but to ‘walk away’ on principal, especially if titles are stripped. Green can then claim to have done everything to keep him (25 year contract) and gets to appoint his own manager without being the villain in the supporters eyes.

I agree that there will be sufficient fudging and muddying of the waters such that the new company does not get punished for the EBT / side letters. I do, however, still expect their use to be found to be illegal in fitba terms and therefore games should be awarded 3-0 to the opposition (or 3-1 if we assume Rangers would still have got a penalty!!).

I expect that titles will be stripped from the oldco but yes it is highly likely the newco will come out unscathed.

  27. Good Morning.

Another inquiry. I wonder how long it will be before they decide that they don’t need to bother with the results of it and throw us all another curved ball.

This site is essential to keep up the pressure on the SPL and SFA to do the right thing. There needs to be a beginning , a middle and an end, with justice being seen to be done.

Nimmo Smith, Harper Mcleod, Lord Carloway and Lord Glennie have all had input but seem to have had the blockers put on them at the sharp end. It must be followed through this time.

Still no answer to which team and who were the players registered with for last weeks game.

No more ignoring of the rule book.

‘We should contain to name and shame those journalists and broadcasters that spout drivel’

‘But in the interests of a balance I have a suggestion to make. I think each month we should also name the journalist or broadcaster who is doing a good job’

JFL I really like this idea and hope it can be worked into the site. The MSM most likely frequented the RTC site and I imagine the same will happen with this site.

We could have the people’s champion award for MSM that get thumbs up for investigating the truth or there could be the Neil Dungcaster
‘stercus tauri’ award for the MSM that creates the greatest fantasy piece!

Some interesting points – which make me want to edit my last post but I’ll just add something here since I can’t:
Perhaps the answer is to give a kind of brief abstract of the articles posted, highlighting key points (i.e. “lies”) and giving a link – which would only be for maybe for a few guys who want to double check something and be ignored otherwise.

  30. Another thought.
At the moment Sevco seem to be willing to accept “punishment” to let them into the league. As a matter of Law Sevco have nothing to do with the sins committed in the past by Rangers(IA).

I wonder how long it will be before they decide to mount a legal challenge to the imposition of any further sanctions on them, on the basis that “it wisnae us”.

In my opinion Whyte is also involved with Green. It is no coincidence that the same legal and financial faces keep popping up.

  31. So the SPL have appointed an independent commision to look into EBT payments and registrations of players, even though Harper Macleod presented a Prima Facie case. This has obviously been set up to achieve a delay in their findings so they won’t look utter dipsticks when the FTT is announced. This delay is also brinkmanship and game playing so the fans get fed up with it all especially when the football kicks off. No word about SDM, Campbell Ogilivie, Walter Smith, Graeme Souness, Swally, Gordon Smith et al who knew and received EBT payments. The alleged part is disturbing especially since it casts doubt over the Harper Macleod findings. How do they feel now? Just more bull from SPL & SFA to cover it all up. Time to burst into print again to my club and all concerned.

  32. Glad to see the good fight is being continued. May whatever greater power is appropriate (the Hydroelectric Board maybe) look favourably upon your actions. The bunfight is yet to come, I’m sure.

  33. I agree with a number of posters that the SPL independent commission is a last phase manoeuvre to shield Sevco from expulsion from the league.

The commission will doubtless return a guilty verdict against RFC(IL) and conclude that stripping of titles and expulsion are appropriate sanctions.

They will then say that all the bad guys were at RFC(IL) and Sevco only bought the assets, are a new company/club, etc so it is grossly unfair to penalise them – so no sanction will be applied.

Lots of rants from the blue side of Glasgow but the decision passes off without social unrest and we all move along….

Unfortunately I agree with this – I know Ray Charles was just posting in a sense of good humour and praising the other bloggers but we don’t want the blog to become seen as a clique nor do we want it to be thought of as having overtly “Celtic” leanings – for example I don’t know why RC’s team only included Celtic players and not the best Scottish players or players that have played in Scotland (for every club) over the same time period afterall not all the posters he listed are even Celtic fans – Paulie Walnuts & easyJambo certainly aren’t. As long as that means it is clearly recorded that oldco stopped and a brand new , newco started in 2012 I can live with that.
Oldco’s history is ended with stripping of titles and cups and newco start from scratch with Ramsden cup and div3 campaign.
At this stage none of us can expect anymore that newco and their fans having to accept publicly that they are a brand new, just out the box company.

  36. Best of luck SFM in continuing this important work for all of Scottish football

  37. Good luck to SFM, following the outstanding RTC contribution to the Scottish game.

I think it’s great that key RTC contributors are TUPE’ing across.

Hopefully not just CFC centric folks like me, but also the top class Diddy and other correspondents – St Johnstone, Tannadice etc – and decent Bears fans.

So – I don’t quite agree with the RayCharles teamsheet this morning at 02:44 ( 100% CFC).

Hope that’s OK with you, Ray – cos I can’t stop loving you ( I’ve made up my mind….).

  38. I see I’m in moderation at 09.50. I thought that previous posters from RTC were deemed already moderated? I haven’t used any cuss words or mentioned anything non-U.

  39. Has Charles Green been charged with a disrepute charge for last weeks Bogotry statement yet, usually announced on a Thursday?
Oh no he cant be his team are not members of the SFL yet.

Has McCoist & Jardine been charged with disrepute for their rants regarding the appealls decision yet?
Oh no they cant be their team are not members of any league yet.

    And so it continues…..

  40. Ray Charles posted a team sheet that i made up months ago, it was a bit of fun then to recognise posters who had brought significant information or analysis to the RTC blog. I fear it has been taken out of context today, i dont think ray is looking to limit the blog to certain posters, just hoping that very important members of the success that the RTC blog became decide to continue their great work on our new blog.

The team was never elitist, just a bit of fun on a quiet night months ago.

  41. I received an email (everyone registered with The Herald would have received it) from The Herald’s Digital Editor, Calum McDonald, this morning stating

“First off: a genuine football scoop! As the Scottish game enters uncharted territory, with Rangers demoted to the Third Division and virtually every club facing financial uncertainty, we’ve pulled off a major close-season signing of our own.

From this week, Graham Spiers, one of the most respected sporting voices in Scotland, begins a weekly column, Spiers on Sport, available only online at heraldscotland.com on Wednesdays. Graham will be typically frank and fearless, analysing the big issues in football and other sports and offering thought-provoking conclusions.”

    I replied

    Dear Calum,

Rangers were not demoted to the Third Division, Rangers are to be liquidated following a failed CVA proposal submitted to creditors following a period of administration. Sevco Scotland Ltd, now known as The Rangers Football Club Limited, were offered a place in the SFL to which they were not entitled. If you are having difficulty differentiating the two, please check companies numbered SC004276 & SC425159. I would be grateful if The Herald would publish facts instead of recycling this nonsense.

As for signing Graham Spiers, I’d have kept that quiet if I were you. He may be one of the most respected sporting voices amongst the hack pack clique, but he most certainly is not held in high esteem by Scottish football fans in general.

Every time the MSM spout this rubbish about Rangers they need to be challenged.

    EVERY TIME!

    I’m not anti Rangers. I’m anti bullsh!t.

Apologies if posted twice. Caught up in moderation.

  42. First post on this new site. Good luck to everyone (even Sevco) for the new season. First season in a few I’ve not had a season ticket, my mate who I come up from London with has just had his 3rd kid and I’m getting hitched in 2 weeks time, plus Ryanair changed their schedule so there were new time constraints to deal with.

I did drop Peter Lawwell a note to say that both of us had committed to spending the same amount on Celtic as in previous years, will just be slightly different routes (merchandide thru the club store for example). The club’s still getting its share of my wallet, even if it’s not on matchday…

I agree completely about the legal challenge – Greene is now trying to cement the fact this Rangers are the original Rangers but hes got what he wanted and I dont think he will have any qualms about sticking it to Regan etc now to aid his plan.

I notice everyone is keeping their heads very low – wheres Ogilvie gone – is he shacked up with Whyte in Monaco the pair of them like Doctor Evil and Mini Mini from Austin Powers?

I hope the outrage that the fans have felt through this does not go away as the SFA and Greene could get away with this if not. However I feel people are fed up and just want the season to start again. Wrongly I dont think most care anymore if Rangers have been forced into the SFL against the rules – I do but I think were on a losing battle. Amusingly someone on dons mad has coined the phrase “Fourth Lanark” for them.

We can only hope the wheels come off from the inside which I think they might.

‘I don’t think results by any of the Scottish teams – even the defeats – have been humiliating. If our season started a little earlier (or we had summer football) we might very well have done better.’

The post from StuJag got me thinking on the longer term goals of the site. Obviously the main focus will be on the ftt result, exposing the propaganda and scaremongering in the MSM, ensuring the governing bodies investigate the RFC(IA) player registrations during the SDM years thoroughly.

In the longer term it would be good to know what fans think are of importance and what areas of Scottish football need to improve for the good of all not just The Rangers.

Fans made their voices heard to governing bodies, football clubs and the MSM in their thousands and because of that The Rangers begin life in SFL3. If this is a gauge of what fan power can produce then if that same level of protest was applied to other frustrations fans have within Scottish Football great changes could easily be achieved.

As a wee side note I have spoken with acquaintances who were RFC fans and bizarrely they were of the opinion that fans should not have been consulted regarding sevco entry. Is this what happens when they’ve been living in the The People’s Republic of Ibrox too long, where only their glorious leader was to believed and dissent was unthinkable!?

  45. Will Duff & Phelps represent Rangers at the meeting of the SPL today?
It cannot be Charles Green as he is representing another team, with no league position, and there would be a conflict of interest.
As Dundee still have no place in the SPL they will not be represented at all.
Everything is as transparent as ever.

  46. radio scotland news this morning the usual sports nonsense from guys including Spiers, completely disparaging the top division while drooling over “TheRangers” easy glide through the league to come. Not one mention in their denigrating of the teams in the SPL that the old Rangers’ cheating might be one reason why we have such weak teams now.

Though in reality it’s not as bad as they make out of course and hopefully clubs make a special effort to prove them wrong.

They really are a loathsome bunch of to$$ers aren’t they. Compare & contrast that with Jim Spence’s commentary and tweets about the Dundee United game last night – someone actually talking up the genuine positives about Scottish football even if the final score wasn’t as hope for and he’s prepared to confront & discuss the reasons and issues why some of our clubs are financially struggling a bit due to Rangers years of mismanagement not sweep all that under the carpet like the west-coast-centric media try to do.

  48. Congratulations to TSFM on successfully getting this site up and running, it’s now up to all of us to make it a worthy successor to RTC.

  49. Rob McLean was at it last night too. Do these guys not understand that, irrespective of the financial advantages of having The Rangers in the SPL, that clubs who have cheated and then deliberately shafted their creditors cannot simply be admitted into the top tier. Do they have no sense of right and wrong?

Still no answer to which team and who were the players registered with for last weeks game.
    ======================================================================
No one is asking the question, therefore no answer is required, any member of the MSM should have asked this basic question last Friday after the initial announcement was made.

    Tuped over,
Can the SFA/SFL not see the problems they face with the The Rangers supporters in the coming weeks.
    ===============================

The SFA might have a bit of a problem on this one because their excuse in the past has always been the whatabout line that referred to what Celtic supporters sang (and lets not for God’s sake get into a songs debate).but that was the reason behind inaction.

With Celtic out of the direct picture IF complaints come from the opposition in the SFL then the whatabout card cannot be played. Of course there is the Offensive Behaviour at Football Bill and the SFA might take refuge behind that.

Please excuse my cynicism but given that the desire to keep Rangers in the game because of the supporter base they bring to it, it is inconcievable that an SFA who consider the good of Rangers and the good of Scottish football to be the same thing, will act to remove part of the customer base they were so keen to preserve.

Of course if Scottish football were to thrive and not become the post Armageddon wasteland some have predicted , then that is another Ranger’s myth that can be consigned to history.

  52. Last night I posted details of the SPL Independent Commission process which will be used to deal with the Rangers FC “dual contract” investigation.

In light of a few comments, and me thinking about the issue when awake, as opposed to writing it when asleep, I thought I would add a few more thoughts.

    Topics considered:-

    Naming the Commissioners;

If there is an Appeal, is the SFA Appellate Tribunal Restricted in what it can do?

    What Penalty Might Be Imposed?

Why the Defiance about losing titles has been a brilliant tactical stroke by the Rangers FC

Re Black and Little’s participation in the Brechin game.
How can they be “trialists” if they had signed? Trialists dont have 3 year contracts.
No, we are being fed a line here.
Either they were registered before the game or they were ineligible.

The SFA need to clarify when they were registered, if that is today as previously reported it would be, then its another scandalous breaking of rules. No other team would get such assistance.

Is there any way of forcing the SFA to give out the date? Freedom of information request perhaps?

    It should be monitored!!!

Has any Brechin fan asked their chairman when they will be lodging an appeal?

Why are we relying on the MSM to do anything? If there is anything to be learnt from the RTC blogs, it is that fans have most power when dealing directly with their own club.

Brechin have been put out of the Ramsdens Cup by a club with no SFL membership who were utilising players who were not registered. Brechin fans should be screaming at their board to do something about it. Fans of every other club (with the exception of the cheaters, I suppose), should be lending support.

Expect nothing from the MSM and you won’t be disappointed.

To be fair to Sevco-Rangers though CH the SFA didn’t officially let them into Scottish fitba until sometime between 7pm-9pm on the Friday night and the game kicked off at 3pm on the Sunday – was anybody from the SFA prepared to come into work on the Saturday and Sunday and register all the “Rangers” players? I suspect they let them play the game on a conditional license subject to all players played being registered & approved within 7 days etc. It is as much a case of the SFA to blame for this gerrymandering of the rules to allow the game to go ahead as Sevco fault in holding up the process.

This site will fail miserably if this is how it’s going to be. If that is how you want to play it,then I,and many others will be leaving in droves.

Your reply to RayCharles is, imo, slightly harsh. He’s been posting from day one and has probably built up a good sense of the views and approaches of the various posters involved in RTC.

A bit reminiscing is acceptable, surely?

    —————————————————————————————————

    I take it that’s a rhetorical question?

  58. The only outcome of the EBT inquiry which can realistically arise is that any player who received an EBT payment which wasn’t declared has their registration deemed invalid for the time period dating from the first undeclared payment to the last. That may actually see some players, like Billy Dodds, be considered within the rules, but others, like Barry Ferguson, outwith.

Then any matches in which a player falling within the invalid period competed to be declared a loss for the team he represented, and the result retrospectively awarded to the opponents. In any cases where both teams fielded a player deemed invalidly registered, the match itself is deemed a null result and no point awarded to both teams.

Then the final competition points following such determinations to be considered, and any titles/cups awarded to the team which is found to have the most points or the team awarded the match in cases of cup competition finals.

  59. Can I ask the question, does anyone have the foggiest idea who is currently footing the bill for the Duff and Help pay cheques?

  60. Delighted to see that others have taken up the baton and will be shining a light into the murky world of the MSM and others.

Chris where are you getting this “both teams” and “the team he represented ” ?
There is only one club in the country under investigation for the use of EBT’s in the SPL, the club is called Rangers.
No other club is under investigation.
No, Rangers are not being treated differently from other teams, the evidence has already been identified in a previous enquiry.
Nice try, don’t bother with the Juninho defence, it has already been covered

  62. @rantinrobin its still an expense of the administration and will therefore at some stage come out of the creditors pot. Have I missed it or has Mr Charles actually enhanced that pot with the money for the purchase of the assets?

At the end of the day it comes out of the creditors pool, so therefore as a taxpayer……….You are!
