And yet the SMSM steadfastly refuse to ask him why he was incommunicado for so long, or at least choose to accept his rather weak explanation, while attending so many Warbspeaks,

I have no idea why he didn’t say anything – he certainly should have – my son is a Hibbee and I congratulated him.

But your post, if you don’t mind me saying, is just another in a long line of posts of why a manager cannot express his opinion on anything because he either did or didn’t say something previously. My apologies if I have picked you up wrong.

The fact that the MSM seem to take their pick of what he says does not mean that everything he says is rubbish – as appears to be the default position on this website.

PLGlenJuly 19, 2016 at 21:59 ‘…. the issue appears to be that the MSM highlight the thoughts and opinions of one manager..’ ________ With great respect, I think the issue is not the fact that Warburton has opinions. He is perfectly entitled to do what you and I do-express an opinion.

I absolutely agree John.

My concern is that his opinion is being presented here as being more than that, just an opinion, therefore in need of rebuttal, simply because the MSM are presenting it. He gets asked questions, answers them, it’s reported in the MSM, then there seems to be a charge to dispute what his opinion is. It’s not his fault he is being quoted in the media.

My point is, I don’t read the newspapers in the morning (or afternoon, or pick them up on the bus/dentists waiting rooms/ etc, as seems to happen with so many that claim ever to buy them), I come on here and read that a Manager of a football club has said something and, without even having to read what he’s said, he’s either got some sort of superiority complex or he’s just talking garbage.

If the gripe is with what newspapers report on, then fair enough, but I tend to only see posts about what rubbish he’s talking simply because of who he is and simply because of who his utterances are being reported by.

And the opinions of fans of all but one club are mocked by the media should they dare try to express them, even when those opinions match the law of the land precisely!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion – even managers of football clubs 🙂

So, by previous posts, the issue appears to be that the MSM highlight the thoughts and opinions of one manager – I avoid newspapers, so I accept that that is the case. I’d hate to pick one up this week and read the thoughts of any other manager. It’s been 20 years since I did that, mind you.

I would hope that people will evaluate what managers actually say and not jump to the conclusion that what they are saying is only newsworthy simply because of the team they are involved with, rather than them actually having the occasional point.

That was my point.

The Offline Game
From a personal perspective, Saturday was a day of highs and lows for me.
When I was 10, the team I supported (not the team my dad supported, btw) lifted the Scottish Cup – in 2016, when my son was 10, the team he supports (not the team I support, btw) lifted the Scottish Cup.
He felt like I did then. He had a big enough grin on his face!
IMHO, anyone who was on the park (regardless of colours) for the sole purpose of noising up and/or fighting with opposition fans, should be identified and never be allowed in a football stadium again.
I’ve been at my fair share of Senior and Junior games and witnessed a fair bit of bother, but never once did I feel the need to do that, whatever excuses are currently being rolled out.

The Offline Game
Maybe they were banned from the final for the next 14 years – the history books certainly show that they weren’t involved in any.
In the intervening years until Rangers did win their first Scottish Cup the winners were: Queens Park (7 wins), Dumbarton (1 win), Renton (2 wins), Hibernian (1 win), 3rd Lanark (1 win), Heart of Midlothian (1 win), Celtic (1 win).
Apparently the 1883-84 cup was awarded to Queens Park as Vale of Leven withdrew from the match as they couldn’t manage to put a team on the park for the final.
Not sure what punishment was handed to them as they appear to have made the final the next again year.
I note that Dumbarton protested against their 2-1 defeat by Queens Park in 1880-81 – that match was replayed – to no avail as they were still beaten.
It’s a funny old game.

John Clark Meets “The SFA”

Big Pink, JC was speaking to the Scottish Football Association about matters which involved a Football Club. I think any reasonable person would assume that he therefore had an interest in football.
I’m not sure how them happening to ask which team he supported is them saying that he is “thereby proving conclusively that he was a Rangers hater” depending on his answer?
It would be unfair to label all Celtic fans as Rangers haters.

SFM Podcast #6: Dave King & Oldco
Must say I really enjoyed the Podcast.

Thanks to David Low and BP for doing it.

The sad thing is that it takes 2 guys, who are not Rangers fans, to actually take the time to look at and discuss the issues, sensibly and make a great sounding show from that.

That’s something that Rangers should be taking a lead from.

Not me, obv, as I don’t even have a face for the Podcast 🙂

“John McMorrow, Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Prior to joining the Group, John worked for Scotland’s largest private conglomerate, the Murray Group, for six years in various head of finance positions within its metals stockholding, waste management and open cast coal mining businesses…..”

Scottish Football needs a strong Arbroath.

Indeed it does.

A quick look at his Twitter account (I presume it is his Twitter account, or someone who certainly looks very much like him) notes that he is somewhat of a Motherwell fan.

Commensurate with his previous career in the metals industry perhaps?
