Yesterday afternoon – I think it was Lord Wobbly queried the
who /where Ballinamallard

It is a small town/big village in rural Co.

My statement (rather than query) was that the defeat of Linfield by Ballinamallard has no relevance to this site.

“Martin O’Neill did that with us,” the Celtic manager says. “Each year at Leicester he gave me a pay rise because things were going so well and we were playing so well. He did that with other players too. I think it’s important to do that with the players you can hang your hat on. It’s not massive money but it makes things a little bit more comfortable.”

Let us (those of that are Celtic fans) just hope that Lenny has also learned another valuable lesson from MON. ie No Bobo Balde-type contracts if you please.

With acknowledgement to Angela Haggerty for bringing this to my attention:

Old Firm documentary German tv 1974: http://youtu.be/19j95pGNzI8

A fascinating insight into Glasgow in 1974. Jimmy Reid is notable for his incredibly accurate predictions of what was happening but, what I take from this is the over reliance of the power of the ‘Old Firm’.

Scottish fitba’ is immeasurably improved by not having an all pervading ‘Old Firm’!

It’s easily done. Too much champers loosens inhibitions.

I have to say, I thought Keith’s tweet on the subject was soooperb! 😆

What Keith (and other ‘succulents’) fail to acknowledge is that the improvement in the top flight clubs (Celtic aside) is precisely because Rangers aren’t there skewing the league with their arms race mentality to the transfer market.

Clubs no longer need to try to keep up with Rangers fraudulent spending (and Celtic certainly haven’t been trying to buy success) so have been able to spend money on what’s best for them.

The nuclear winter was the one that Sir David Murray presided over!
