Thanks boab. Sorry that you think there’s confusion in my post. I didn’t say that we should ignore the existence of Rangers, just that I thought some posters today seemed to see them only in terms of the very narrow perspective of a two-team league. It is fair comment to make an observation as to the aspirations of Rangers and its fans in the context of my whole post rather than only the part you abstracted? I did also of course make reference to other clubs and speculate on the opportunities for them in the current situation.

In my view Celtic has to date, and will continue to maximise this opportunity but others seem less inclined to make the most of the chance they’ve got.

As to moving on, that was the point of my post – Carpe Diem and all that. Maybe you’ve mis-read me?

hangerhead, your memory is OK. Relationships between the Scottish and UK governments might be in danger if the FOI request was met in full. Link here:

Angus note the TU in response to Bill and keep up the remorseless objectivity and attention to facts that we see also from others such as Ecobhoy and Auldheid in their recent discussion about the FTT/UTT – even if they didn’t agree 100%.

Glad you’re posting again brian.

My observation about a few of the Celtic fans posting so far today is that it is all still about ‘Us and Them’, which is understandable because of the rivalry between the two Glasgow teams, but was something I thought both RTC and TSFM had been somewhat successful in moving on from.

Anyway, to address your post Brian, my guess is that Rangers 2012 will take some considerable time to arrive at a position that its fans think it has a right to – back competing with Celtic on level terms. No matter what Rangers 2012 and its fans say (including those in the media), they and every other club and all fans in Scotland know what happened and they won’t forget readily and won’t forget to remind Rangers 2012 fans of it – that’s just how things are. If they’d been ambitious, the SPL clubs would have seized on the opportunity to kick a strong competitor when they were down (some would say you should finish your competitor off in these circumstances) – that’s how things should work in a competitive world.

They should all now work as hard as possible to maximum the benefit to their clubs while the opportunity still exists – that means Celtic maximising Euro monies and the solvent SPL clubs getting as much benefit as possible from higher league placement, TV contracts, Euro participation and the increased crowds and sponsorship that come with these. Rather like NTHM, I think the retribution opportunities for the damage caused to Scottish football by Rangers 1872 conducting business so recklessly that they are going bust are limited. Don’t look back, Carpe Diem!

It Is Better To Offer No Excuse Than A Bad One
I seem to recall that part of Dave King’s settlement with the South African Revenue Service was a  requirement that Mr King’s family repatriate business assets held overseas into South Africa. Has anyone any insight into how this sits with NOAL being BVI-based?

EJ, I’ve no cause to doubt you or Hearts directors or the company auditors. It’s a fact though that people will speculate on these matters, often getting things completely wrong, intentionally or simply through ignorance.

blu December 20, 2017 at 11:16 There is an element of truth in Tangoed’s assertion about the need for transparency though – I’m sure there’s plenty speculation on Jambos Kickback as to the identity of the mysterious benefactors. ===================== There is indeed plenty speculation on Jambos Kickback about the benefactor(s).
A couple of well informed posters have all but confirmed that the money has come from partners in an Edinburgh investment company.

EJ,
I’m sure that you and others closer to the club will have a very good idea who these people are but as long as the club is asked to keep their identities private there will be speculation and aspersions cast from the east of Edinburgh and further afield.

I’ll decline from commenting further, the majority of members here seem to think it is acceptable to conjecture that Hearts are being funded by the proceeds of crime.

For the avoidance of doubt Homunculus, I agree with your challenge to Tangoed – his subsequent response confirms it is simple speculation, possibly mischievous. My question was more focused on what might be considered as money laundering, tangential and less important than your challenge.

Homunculus, I don’t think that money laundering was referred to by Tangoed, no doubt they’ll respond to fully explain.
