It’s around £0.5m (of £6.3m) that’s gone to ‘unnamed parties’ which is a large sum of money for any Scottish club, especially when there isn’t much of the stuff around. I think Stephen Thompson comes across well in interviews and he does seem to genuinely love the club (from an outsiders point of view, anyway) but I know some fans are not always happy with him. I’m still curious to know where that amount of money would end up and for what reasons.

The Arab Trust’s figures may relate to any number of things, including the 2nd payment to BOS and a possible sell on clause in favour of Queen’s Park, so I wouldn’t jump to any quick conclusions about “commission” payments

The conclusion being jumped to online is that a (relatively) long term rumour that a member (or members) of the management team are incentivised through a cut of transfer fees…we may or may not find out in due course…

What has struck me most is how rapidly ST has lost fan support (online at any rate so some caution required)…the immediate cause has, of course, been the transfer of SA and GMS to Celtic…the board underestimated how much anger this would generate IMO.

This in turn highlights the question of what fans of a club with United’s financial base should reasonably expect in terms of their ability to hang onto players….it’s easy to condemn what might be seen as an unreasonable desire to hang onto good players at the expense of monetary gain….but then again if you don’t want to challenge at the top what’s the point anyway.

Which leads to a problem that most clubs in Scotland face….what’s the point if you can’t challenge regardless of what you do ❓

And if you thought blowing money on paintings was financially imprudent…

“Kenny Miller will be a Rangers player next season regardless of what division the Ibrox club are playing in.
The 35-year-old striker joined the Light Blues for the third time last summer after moving from Vancouver Whitecaps on a one-year deal.
But Sportsmail understands the agreement also contained an appearance-related clause that would trigger a second year for the veteran”

With the many comments we have posted here, indicating great concern

about the kindergarten approach to the administration of Scottish

Football, a thought has crossed my mind on several occasion.

In short, what harm can be done by incorporating the English FA rule

book, and disposing of the pile of manure in current use.
It would be helpful if you would highlight the differences between the two that you feel would improve the administration of Scottish Football.

As a helpful starter I’ll point out that at least the SFA have a dual ownership rule, unlike the EFA…hard to see where exchanging rule books would get us to there…

For some time now we have being hearing about the millions required to

upgrade and modernise various faults at Ibrox Stadium.

Are Sevco waitng to see if they overcome QOS, Hibernian, P/L club to start

required works.

Can this work be completed in the short timeframe (do they have the

money?),and will they be able to convince the powers that be, along with

the H&S and obtain the appropiate license.
Well there have been numerous rumours and little hard fact.

Ibrox presumably ok’d at the start of this season so unless there’s been significant deterioration in the meantime they’ll be good to go next season.

JohnJames is stating as a fact that the Dundee Utd players have been told that they are going into administration on Monday. I really hope that he’s got this one badly wrong

How can I put this – complete and utter pish – like most of his output

‘The Rangers’   I’ve often wondered how Charles Green got away with such a miniscule change to the name.  As I understood it, under the phoenix laws any new business arising from the ashes had to have a significantly different name so that it could not be seen to go into liquidation, shed the debt and start again unharmed, name intact

IIRC (and it is a while ago now) permission was sought (by CG) from and granted by the liquidators BDO.
Perhaps someone else who kept notes or has a better memory than me might confirm this?

The whole thing smacks of poetic justice you might say…

Wrt Ranger’s reported desire to see strict liability brought in.

The cynic would suppose that they know the other clubs are dead set against it so it makes them look good while they know it’s never gonnae happen…

Even if it turns out that Phil is correct and the Scottish government will insist they’d still look better than the others and if it’s inevitable they’ve nothing to loose.

TBH I’m struggling to understand how it could be tacked onto ground licencing without local authorities rather than the SFA becoming responsible for enforcement and sanctions which I truly doubt they’d want involved in.

Finally you’d hope they’d simply decided it was time to put a cork in the choir’s gob for their own benefit and that of football and Scottish society as a whole – well a man can dream, can’t he 09

I note that while the panel rejected the…error…over the designation of the club (cough) they suggested that the SFA might want to tighten up on that in future 12
Bit late 10

I assume the charges against Rangers were dropped as the consideration of Hibs covered the same ground?
