I know where you are coming from but the fact remains that the SFA is there to manage and support the game in Scotland and that includes our own referees.

By all means look abroad for assistance in terms of coaching, monitoring performance etc of referees in the same way we brought in the likes of Mark Wottee, if you don’t think our guys are up to it.

However if foreign referees where brought in on regular/permanent basis it wouldn’t take long for fans to start complaining about how rubbish they were.

The reality is that when teams fail to do their business on the park fans, players and managers tend to look for the ref as being the scapegoat and the deciding factor in a game.

Clearly at times refs get it wrong and that can seem to have a major bearing on the outcome of a game but they are human and it should never be forgotten that without them there is no game.

Lets not forget Ronny Deila and Lennon before him have not exactly been shouting to the rooftops about the quality of Euro refs when things haven’t gone their way in big games.

Just because a guy has an exotic name doesn’t mean that on any one day they can’t get it just as wrong as one of our home grown officials.

IIRC it was reported that Miller (and Boyd) signed for pretty low wages.

While he is now past his best I would have thought, given his effort, attitude, fitness and ability to score goals for all his clubs and country, he could be a welcomed addition to the backroom staff as a player/coach.

Certainly need more of the likes of Kenny Miller than giving Elbows some kind of gig.
If the price is right maybe not a bad move if you are looking long term.

Why doesn’t the SMSM just tell us how it is. The Celtic Captain doesn’t need to give a hoot about any other team in Scotland other than his current club and the other team in Green and White given his well known liking for Hibs. Hardly going to want the team from Govan to go up and his boyhood team stay down.

Sorry to be pedantic but Murray was appointed to the board of Rangers in September 2007.
That was the same time the City of London Police issued the warrant to search for documents. HMRC got their first look at the side letters in October 2007. Therefore it is highly improbable that Murray, who just got his feet under the boardroom table had anything to do with keeping documents from the Polis or had prior knowledge of the EBT’s. From that point HMRC got their teeth into matters and as such Murray would have had little influence or role to play with regard to an ongoing investigation. An investigation which the board would have by then been fully aware of the consequences, therefore Murray had no need to blow the whistle or pass on warnings.

Indeed I would imagine he will now be most likely arguing that, as a fresh member of the board, he was supportive of the board co-operating fully with the authorities thus meeting is fiduciary responsibilities.

What was said to the footballing authorities and by whom at that time is perhaps open to more question but I would doubt Murray, as a non exec, would have had much involvement in terms of liaisons with the SFA and SPL at that time.

Indeed. And that was my other thought.
Even if Mark Allen does a good job T”Rangers wouldn’t see any cash for any upcoming talent (internal or bought in)  for a god number of years.
To date a good few lads showing talent have been allowed to leave to keep the lights on.
At present the only prospect they have is McRorie who I think has stepped up and performed well when asked. He certainly has confidence and could develop into a decent centre back playing with the likes of Souttar for Scotland.

I am sure the thought will have crossed other’s minds but will say it anyway.
Celtics ‘free money’ from the VVD  transfer is more than T’Rangers stated  loan requirements to keep the lights on for the next year or two.
Thats the size of the gap between Celtic and the rest of us.

Thought that may be the case but was wondering if someone would be trying to get ahead of the game.
