In fear of contradicting myself from my earlier post on agreeing to disagree, I would say yes the titles should be attributed to the current team playing out of Ibrox. The same way Fiorentina’s were.

And the whole ‘my gran died and I live in her house’ type of argument does nothing to change the old club new club debate. It’s not one person pretending to be another. It’s a football club which I don’t define as a ‘thing’. And in my point of view there has been no difference

That at doesn’t mean I’m right. It doesn’t mean you are right. It’s just an opinion. And if I wanted to be like Ernest I could try and list every single reason or quote I could come across to justify by my argument, and you would respond to every single reason and argument to justify yours but what would that achieve? Apathy from another 3 pages of repetitive points scoring?

Stevie BC, the issue with declaring himself bankrupt is it stops him holding any director role in a company in the UK and possibly South Africa. I can’t see him doing that “for the sake of the club”. I think like Murray before him he likes the limelight. He knows very well the best option for the club would be resign as any acting party in the club and still provide the soft loans. It would take all scrutiny away from the club and could leave the chairman role to someone more respected such as Alistair Johnston. That would stop the risk of the TOP ruling having such a huge impact on the club. It’s the selfless and obvious choice to make and he could still be seen as the saviour from abroad saving the club through loans, but he wouldn’t get the same exposure he so much craves. His defiance is what will lead to his downfall and his selfishness could lead lead to the downfall of the club.

As a member of The Tartan army I have always hated Hampden. It’s the worst stadium to get too, has the worst atmosphere and the worst places to view a game. My preference would be Murryfield but I would settle for alternatives between the other major stadium. I don’t like going to Celtic Park for Scotland games (the rangers fan in me) and I can see why Celtic fans wouldn’t want to go to Ibrox. Pittodrie is far to far to travel for me so Murryfield would seem the obvious. As a regular rugby goer I love the atmosphere in Murryfield and the transportation there is easy for almost everyone to get too.

Jimbo, I fully agree that the league this season is far to close to call. It’s a great advert for Scottish football that anyone can beat anybody else on their day. For what it’s worth I can’t see anyone beating Celtic to the league. They will drop points but I’m sure they will strengthen in January and the games against Hearts and the old firm game will give your players a kick up the arse.

As for second place, it could be any of four teams. I hope it’s Rangers and we can start stringing together a decent number of results, but Aberdeen, Hibs or Hearts could all do it. The league is so unpredictable than any of 4 teams could finish 2nd and any of 4 teams could be relegated. To further add to the unpredictability I fear Rangers could lose some decent players as I can’t see us offloading the duds. If the accounts were based on shedding the wage bill, and no-one takes on Pena or Herrera then I fear Morales, Tavernier or even McCrorie may be sold to free up cash.

Happy New Year everyone and here’s for a great season

Who Is Conning Whom?
As a Rangers fan, I watched the Aberdeen game last night and then saw the highlights from the Celtic game and I can say this ‘referee conspiracy’ nonsense from both sides is exactly that, nonsense.
The Celtic penalty was never a penalty and was a very bad decision by Colum. For what it’s worth I think the Rangers penalty was a penalty, but for the rest of the game we were lucky not to finish with 9 men after a shocking tackle from Holt and an elbow by McRorie. Aberdeen were also unlucky not to get a penalty when Tav pulled GMS down, which could have been a red card too. Aberdeen also seemed to get away with murder with some of their tackles. But on another night with a better referee Aberdeen could have won that game. But let’s remember the games against Hibs and Hearts earlier the season (Hibs in particular) where Rangers were robbed by poor refereeing decisions.
There is no Masonic conspiracy, no ‘fear of Lawell’, no ‘old firm preferential treagment’. Just very very poor referees and shocking refereeing decisions.

Who Is Conning Whom?
Plenty of people have disagreed with my posts above without really answering the main points I raised. The biggest thing was I have not noticed a difference and nor have any Rangers fans I know. Whether we’re called zombies or whatever, is no different than any other football slogan.

And if you really think that a next win would number 1 instead of 55 then you really are wishful thinking. The SFA have already admitted as much. And as I said, UEFA will just take what they say at face value.
So effectively Rangers don’t notice a difference, SFA don’t notice a difference, The BBC don’t, BT Sport don’t, Sky Sports don’t, the newspapers in Scotland don’t. So please tell me, when you rock up at Ibrox for an away fixture, other than the quality of team we put out what has changed for you? What do you notice different? If someone can answer that then I will happily concede.

And from the responses to my previous comment I can see that non Rangers fans really don’t get it when it comes to the old club new club. At the end of the day why should it matter if legally it’s a different club? It is the same feeling to us, it’s the same media coverage, it’s the same routines. Nothing has changed! So for those that say it’s a new club, do you genuinely see a difference?

Who Is Conning Whom?
As a usual lurker who has only periodically commented and a Rangers fan, I have to say that since Ernest has joined this place has become absolutely insane! The argument of same club/new club for me seems the most pointless in history. I’m a season ticket holder and go and watch the games and for me I can’t see a single difference (quality aside) in the last ten years! And when I watch old firm games with my mixed crowd even the Celtic fans I’m with don’t notice anything changed. If it makes some folk feel better thinking this is a brand new club then by all means whatever gets you off. Trying to justify one way or the other that this is a different team truly amazes me, and I blame the Rangers fans on here like Ernest as much as the rest. Yes legally under corporate law it’s a new founded company, but can anyone honestly say they notice one single different aspect since the big L word? And hand on heart, if Rangers were to win the league, would anyone think for one minute it wouldn’t be added to the 54 titles? And I’d be willing to wager a pretty large bet that the UEFA website would reference that too. Why? Because can anyone really see UEFA getting involved in a squabble between some fans in a backwater nation they care not one jot for? They will take the SFA word for it and that will be that. To still be arguing over this 5 years down the line just amazes me.

Launch of SFSA Fans’ Survey
Smugas, I would actually say the opposite was true, that the only thing not still attached to the club is (wrongly) the debt. The fans, staff, stadium, colours, songs (again not always a good thing), the name, the history, the trophies, the training ground, the crest all retain with the club.

For what it’s worth, I do believe that the entirety of the SFA and SPFL should be cleared out – not because they are corrupt towards either Rangers or Celtic as most would suggest, but because they are completely inept. They continue to preside over shambles after shambles and should never have allowed the situation to arise in the first place.
