Comment on John Clark Meets “The SFA” by Jingso.Jimsie.

The root cause of the dearth of good referees (in Scotland & in England, because there are some terrible refs in the EPL) is the modern day insistence on ‘game management’ as the overarching requirement, rather than equitable application of the laws to both teams.

The game often isn’t refereed to reflect what happens on the pitch. It’s refereed to impress the assessor in the stand.

I would be less interested in a referees religion but there is an argument to be made in it being known which team they support/ supported.  They should make a declaration at the outset of their career and be recused from those games which involve their chosen team.

Should the same standard be applied to football journalists?

I see what you’re saying, but:

The failure of the CVA & the inevitable liquidation was acknowledged. It was in the papers & on the TV & everything. I’m sure you saw the headlines?

Crikey, the SFA/SPL/SFL also took action. How else did Dundee gain access to the SPL?

What’s happened is that the continuity myth, as espoused by C. Green et alia, was allowed credence. This is yet another failing by the governing bodies, who were so sh*t scared of the everyday real life occurrence of a business/member club failing that they couldn’t even make a clear (transparent) statement that it had closed down & there was a new kid in town.

It’s what’s happened since, the virtual airbrushing of history across media, that is sinister.

John James has asked me to pass on the following information to you: j
AllyJambo, could you please inform Easyjambo, on The Scottish Football Monitor, that Craig Whyte’s appearance at court next Wednesday may be in relation to his refusal to reveal the passwords to the electronic devices that were seized by Police Scotland

…which is what I posted here yesterday at 1700 in reply to Easyjambo.

THAT Debate, and the Beauty of Hindsight

Just watching a clip from Sky Sports where Davie Provan was asked what would it take for Rangers to close the gap on Celtic. “Hard cash”, was his answer, but no insight as to where it will come from. Just like Walter Smith, Ally McCoist, Willie Henderson etc.

I wonder why people are scared to point out Rangers were never really rich, that they just had a very friendly bank, then adopted very dodgy tax avoidance practices…

I suspect the only time that any form of Rangers had ‘hard cash’ in the last thirty years was in the immediate aftermath of Chuck’s IPO.

I wonder what happened to it?

I noticed a link to this article elsewhere & I think it’s worth sharing:

One can often gauge what the current popular view is by reading the scribblings in the daily record. In particular those of Keith Jackson…

You have to remember that the Monday morning ‘Keich By Keith’ is an ‘opinion’ piece, rather than reportage.

His opinion, going by today’s column, is rather confused.

I read Ewen Murray’s report last evening. It’s a decent piece, particularly when compared to BBC Scotland’s on-line match report. However, like many, he’s in denial or ignorance about the songbook. The BTL comments are worth reading as well.

Thanks to those who replied to my query of 1704 yesterday.

Without prejudice, I’ll just leave this here.

I’m sure the majority of readers can work out what I mean.
