  1. Off-topic: Some very exciting but also stern challenges ahead for Celtic in a very interesting CL group draw.

  2. Still no announcement of the punishment (aye right!).

Bound to be leaked once the bunfight in Monaco’s over.

Just to be mischievous EJ, does every club receive a share of the ‘solidarity’ payment? Even a newly formed tribute club in SFL? Or will they take the moral high ground and refuse the charity from ‘their friends across the city’?
    =================================
Apologies for the slow response (grandad’s babysitting duties etc.)

    Some extracts from UEFA sources

Solidarity payments go to the top leagues of its member associations. The payments are made through each country’s national association, which then transfers the full amount to its affiliated league. The league in turn must then distribute the amount to its clubs.

To receive the payments via their league, clubs must run their own youth training programme for all age categories from the age of 12 upwards

  6. Celtic’s Champions League qualification will provide a £1million boost to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League as a whole.
The SPL confirmed that “solidarity funding” from UEFA would increase to £1.5million with the sum shared equally among the 12 clubs.
The league said the bonus would “partly offset the financial damage caused to the League by the loss of Rangers from the SPL”.
SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “Our congratulations go to all at Celtic FC on once again reaching the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
“Their success is a welcome boost for the entire game in Scotland – both financially and reputationally.
“Ahead of the start of Scotland’s World Cup qualifying campaign next week, last evening is a timely reminder that Scottish football still has a rightful place at European football’s top table.”

  7. Interesting piece from Glasnost – but he tries to link two unrelated points. the first on the lack of independence is correct. The compliance officer clearly needs to be independent of the SFA and the composition of the panels should also be independent – this much is clear – What he cals for is an independent process – which we clearly lack – despite the attempts to bring one in – it failed in its first serious challenge because of the inbuilt survival blanket for Rangers which has been systematically put in place by Rangers over decades.

The second on the need for naming of names – I think he picks the wrong analogy – if we assume the panellists are in fact the equivalent in the system of jurors in the legal system, then we see a perfectly valid argument for anonymity.

As regards Ally’s dog whistle – then the entire argument is irrelevant. McCoist knew the agreement was to keep the panellists anonymous. His club could have challenged that decision through the proper channels, and his decision to force the issue caused fear, distress, threats and lies to be put upon a panel member and his club. that reaction of itself should justify anonymity.

Glasnost’s bizarre argument that anonymity is giving in to bullying is in fact false. The correct analogy is of having anonymous jurors whose protected identity allows them to adjudicate on the facts without fear or favour.

So – Ally’s outburst and the subsequent venal acts proved Ally’s wrongness and Glasnost -living up to his name seeking openness – whilst admirable in sentiment, seems to me to be fundamentally at odds with the realities of having to make decisions about angry Bears with a penchant for intimidation. Without confidentiality, fear and self protection may alter the decision-making process and render it subject to undue pressure.

  8. some attention seeker on one of the bears forums claiming Green has caused havoc today claiming he’s put the baw up on the slates and set the cat amongst the pigeons …………………..

I’ve no idea what that’s supposed to mean but it will be interesting to see or hear if Green has pulled any stunts today, legal or otherwise which perhaps explains no news yet from Hampden?

  9. RMedia (i know I know) reporting 3 match ban for McCoist
    Nothing official.

  11. Liverpool running scared? Apparently putting out a full strength team after being given a fright in the first leg at Tynecastle. Good luck to the Jambos.

  12. Auldheid‏@Auldheid

McCoist gets 3 match ban SUSPENDED for 12 months. What exactly does this say about who governs Scottish Football?

  13. Who would sit on a Disciplinary Panel given the lack of protection provided by SFA? I’ll be surprised if Raith Rovers do not comment.

  14. wow, the sfa really do think they are the same club !!

  15. McCoist puts a mans life in danger due to his irresponsible statement and gets off scot free. If anyone was in doubt that the Scottish game is bent in favour of one club, there was your proof. The SFA are so corrupt they need totally disbanded and a new organisation brought to the fore to run Scottish football

  16. Has the SFA suspended the 3 match ban for 12 months due to Ally’s start in Div 3 as a way of avoiding having to punish him .
One defeat should be enough to ensure Ally will not be around to face any sanction

  17. What does he have to avoid doing for the next 12 months?
For example, if he is sent to the stand during a game will his suspended sentence kick in automatically?
Or, will he have to incite arson and intimidation specifically?

  18. Look on the bright side,it means Sally will be in the dugout, oops, standing beside the dugout, for the near future, better him/her than someone who actually knows something about tactics.
Joking aside, what more has to be done before the clubs step in.The SFA/SPL/SFL has to de-contaminated,I dont think the rest of this season is going to be pleasant. Good.

  19. At what point is an SPL Chairman going to comment on what is happening with regards to the running of Scottish football.
This blatant manipulation of whatever system exists to suit one club is an embarrassment to all concerned. Even if the rules do not allow the decisions taken they are just swept aside and completely ignored.
Although I think this was McCoist’s first charge it was of so serious a nature that it surely deserved some immediate ban. Perhaps the SFA are attempting to frighten off all the independent members so that they can take it back ‘in house’.
As for Chas Green’s comments; given the disgraceful events of the previous season when managers, as well as players, from more than one club were intimidated and threaten for him to escape with a censure is quite simply madness.
This man has been in Scotland five minutes and his rhetoric and behaviour is quickly becoming alarming. Even Regan was intelligent enough to see that he was doing it to shift season tickets but the problem with that is that it allows the very worst element of ‘The Rangers’ support to congregate unchallenged and alienate even further their decent supporters. Although I have not watched either of the away games yet I’ve heard that the songbook of the old club has clearly TUPE’d over which yet again goes unchallenged.
What is it about history that our sports rulers fail to understand about appeasement?
    IT DOES NOT WORK.

The school bully is now loose in the playground and seems intent on taking everyone’s dinner money as well as their mobile phones simply because no one has the testicles to stand their ground.

  20. Green censured for his comments.

I don’t know but I think WE DESERVE TO BE TOLD!!

Joking aside, decisions like this by the SFA show that they really haven’t learned anything. Just as people are starting to get a bit of a feelgood fctor back, they come away with more nonsense that sticks their hearts firmly on their sleeves.

If anything, you may have expected a harsher than normal punishment for Sally – just to set an example, and to show the world that they’re not in RFC(?)’s pocket

The only conclusion I can come to is that they are.

    Shocking.

Anyway, no surprises. What about Mr Charles? What did he get, a light slap on the forehead?

  22. As a punishment to Sevco, the SFA have insisted that McMoist stays in charge of team for at least a year – sounds “fine” to me

  23. from BBC Scotland website – the Doncaster quote takes your breath away – be warned:

Celtic’s qualification to the group stages of the Champions League will provide a £1.5m boost to Scottish Premier League clubs. The 4-0 aggregate win over Helsingborgs will increase Uefa’s ‘solidarity fund’ paid to the SPL by £1m.

Scottish clubs will also receive a co-efficient ranking boost as a result of the Glasgow side’s success.

SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said the funds will offset “the financial damage caused by the loss of Rangers”.

Scottish clubs receive co-efficient ranking points based on success in matches against other European clubs, which helps determine individual club seedings in the Europa League and Champions League. Doncaster congratulated Celtic on their progress to the group stage

Uefa also distributes cash payments to each participating country, depending on various stages reached by clubs in the European top-flight leagues.

In a statement, Doncaster said: “Following Celtic’s qualification to the group stages of the Uefa Champions League, the Scottish Premier League announced the resultant positive impact for the SPL as a whole with the league’s European co-efficient and Uefa solidarity funding both set to receive a boost.

“The co-efficient rankings are based on a points system calculated against the results of teams from each country. Celtic and the SPL will be awarded four bonus points for participation in the group stages, with additional points being awarded for a group stage win or draw.

“Moreover, the amount of Uefa solidarity funding that is shared equally by the other 11 SPL clubs not competing in the Champions League will this season increase from £500,000 to around £1,500,000, partly offsetting the financial damage caused to the league by the loss of Rangers from the SPL.”

Doncaster also congratulated Celtic on their win, which guarantees Neil Lennon’s side, who will discover their three group stage opponents when the draw is made on Thursday.

“Their success is a welcome boost for the entire game in Scotland – both financially and reputationally,” added Doncaster.

“Ahead of the start of Scotland’s World Cup qualifying campaign next week, last evening is a timely reminder that Scottish football still has a rightful place at European football’s top table.”

  27. There can be no doubt that Alistair McCoist’s suspended ban has been ‘imposed’ to hurt The Rangers. Each of the other SFL3 clubs will have heaved a sigh of relief at the news that he was NOT being removed to a position that could have curtailed any influence he might have over his players.

  28. Tic 6709 @ 19.33 pm

  29. With apologies to the forum and for being off topic.

Good luck Hearts, it will be a toughie but you never know.

  30. Re McCoist suspended ban.
Can’t help but add my own tuppence worth.
    What a disgraceful verdict.
If this is now a standard for bringing the game into disrepute, many other managers will no doubt be getting off VERY lightly for the common or garden kind of statements people are normally charged with.

  31. Green is claiming several players who have walked out are still registered with the SFA on behalf of Sevco, and as they are over 21, it is limiting Sevco’s ability to register new players because of the SFL rules – according to RM.

  32. Apparently, CG is fuming at the SFA punishment – a source close the Sevco owner advised that a press release was being prepared, as follows, from CG, but asked for this to be kept quiet until it could be released, appropriately (i.e. on a busy football news day)

“The SFA have again failed to take into account the submission I made on behalf of the club; I am very disappointed, but can assure the supporters that despite the fact that they intend for Ally to have a direct influence on the game from the touchline, without any gap, for a full year, we will do everything in our power to fight this outrageous penalty”

  33. So…….McCoist is King Ned now…..wearin’ his wee joke of a ‘punishment’ like a badge of honour.
Expect to see his shoulder rollin’ swagger exagerrated and his sleekit verbosity become more pronounced. Oh,aye,Ally…..well done….ahbsolootlee….
…….if Neil Lennon just looks the wrong way in a football ground he gets hammered….
One rule for one, an another one altogether for anybody else.
Remember Raith Rovers ? Turnbull Hutton ? Threats of arson?
King Ned and The Sevcovians can seemingly do as they please…….and they know it.
Another day. Another lower level of scumminess achieved.
The sfa must be awfully pleased with itself.
Again, the question begs itself : how,in the name of God, can CO still be President? Can anyone say he’s not had a twisted claw in this latest shameless episode?
    Boak inducing.

  34. Fans Against Corruption says

If players were registered to the SFA, as CG claims, can they still play for TRFC??

  35. I heard the Charles Green interview tonight on Radio Scotland. I think he may have made a major error. Is he really saying the SFA are counting Naismith as a current Sevco player? Really Mr Green? this is very dangerous territory you are on – do you want to tell us more? I think you may be about to cause yourself and the SFA a lot of trouble….

alternatively it may be more lies from Green along the lines of his McCoist is a shareholder lies. And the bizarre lies about Broadfoot

Sadly of course Chick Young and the BBC presenters failed to follow this up with any questions.

But to the poster on here that kept focusing on the 22/21 players thing over the last month – well done!

  36. Let’s get this right – a 3 game touchline ( suspended ) ban is not a punishment
that fits this crime – “Handshakes” all round at the Masonic Temple that we
Scottish football fans once knew to be Hampden Park.
A total and under disgrace by the SFA who basically shat themselves to deal
with the matter in hand correctly. SFA = Masonic Corruption.
Lets get stevensanph’s list up to date and mass email FIFA EUFA ALL European
Clubs, Chairmen and Newspapers to let them see what a shower of cowardly
    cheats the SFA are.

  37. Can we take it they have ran out of time for CG’s punishment, given that he was supporting Ally’s defence or defiance.

  38. The power at the SFA rests with the 4 “Office Bearers” Ogilvie, Petrie, Regan and McRae. All four are on every board. One of them chairs every board. That entire type of cross-over needs cleared out. The whole set-up must be binned as quickly as it can be done.

I doubt that Everton, Sion, Besiktas, Southampton etc would be happy if they did……especially Southampton who paid a substantial fee for Davis…….:)
Seriously, it sounds like Mr Green has found an ingenious way to get the duped season ticket purchasers off his back for lack of signings, focussing on a perceived common enemy.
And of course, predictably, it will work.

  44. Excellent timing by Glasnost to highlight some fundamental flaws in the sfa’s disciplinary process on the very day that they confirm themselves to be outdated, out of touch, and out of their minds. Another example of appeasement to the perpetrator set against the loss of confidence in the victims that future incidents may now occur due to a lacklustre approach to punishment and determent.

The disciplinary process must be removed completely from the sfa’s influence, the procurator football analogy was superb, and simplifies the arguement into an easily understood anomaly.

Hampden is a rubbish stadium, the sfa are beyond contempt and ridicule and are unfit for purpose, and the articles of association are outdated and conflicting.

    Can we do walking away.

Everything needs be rebuilt from brand new materials, its far too late for a few amendments and token retirements. The rottenness is the only thing holding the whole cesspit together.

  49. by my calculation – the extra money won for the 11 SPL teams last night by Celtic is the same as 3,600 fans visiting their ground and paying £25 a ticket.

Oh wait a minute! wouldn’t that be as much as the one game a year visit most teams (on average over say 5 seasons) used to get from Rangers(ia) – with the added bonus of they get this money AND a visit from Dundee fans and less policing costs.

If there are players whose registrations are still held by the SFA how can this be a restriction to TRFC if they can’t play for them? If they can play for TRFC what does this mean?…they can play but aren’t registered? …but in that case doesn’t TRFC still have them in their squad?? They are there but they’re not quite there….(Maybe they can play in addition to the registered players, now that would be more in keeping with the current institutionalised favouritism.?)..

If this is now a standard for bringing the game into disrepute, many other managers will no doubt be getting off VERY lightly for the common or garden kind of statements people are normally charged with.

    Eh, no they won’t.

Cap you forgot: were the players who played as a trialist even though they had signed, registered to Sevco, therefore allowing them to play as a trialist for TRFC?

What did the notorious whisper in the ear incident at CP lead to, I genuinely don’t recall.
    ——————————————–
SW, Mr McCoist was acquitted of all charges on that occasion, wished good luck by the judge, told to keep on being the cheeky chappy that we all know him to be, and allowed to leave the courtroom without a stain on his character. His Lordship did note however a tendency on the part of Mr McCoist to keep the dubious company of red-haired taigs and warned him against doing so in future.

I don’t recall the First Minister, who had fulminated at the behaviour of both managers the morning after the night before, and called the urgent summit, making any comment.

    Plus ca change

Fair comment Iceman, Glasnost may be being a litttle bit utopian in his outlook. The general thrust concerning the judicial panel was well measured however. It is one of the pillars of the game that help prop up fair play. Todays judgemet concerning Ally McCoist does appear rather weak but can we really be all that surprised given all that has gone before. In the absence of strong leadership the governance of Scottish football is likely to spiral out of control. Whilst I would like to remain indepenently minded, it is difficult to suppress an anti Rangers prejudice. Not against the fans but against a system that appears to work so hard to treat them favourably. The one place they aren’t being given an easy ride is on the football fields of the Third Division clubs. Whilst I would always wish that the best team wins I can’t help but wish that the players of these clubs make up for the deficit in their governing structure by taking revenge, in a fairly played manner, on the football field. Sorry Rangers but this is really becoming the most embarassing possible chapter in your history.

  63. Sorry, me again.

From the SFA site link, thanks Smallteaser, note that McCoist faced three charges but was found guilty of the first two. Does this mean the third is still to be decided or he was not found guilty?

The third charge seems to be the most serious one of course.

    Just what is going on?

Alleged Party in Breach: Alistair McCoist, Rangers FC
    Date: Tuesday, 24th April 2012
    Disciplinary Rule(s) allegedly breached:

    (1) Disciplinary Rule 66 (Bringing the game into disrepute by calling into question the independence of the Judicial Panel that sat on 17th, 18th, 20th and 23rd April 2012 in respect of a case against Rangers FC and Craig Whyte).
    (2) Disciplinary Rule 71 (Not acting in the best interests of Association Football by calling into question, in a media interview, the independence of the Judicial Panel that sat on 17th, 18th, 20th and 23rd April 2012 in respect of a case against Rangers FC and Craig Whyte).

    (3) Disciplinary Rule 71 (Not acting in the best interests of Association Football by requesting, in a media interview, that the members of the Judicial Panel who sat on 17th, 18th, 20th and 23rd April 2012, in respect of a case against Rangers FC and Craig Whyte, be named in public).

Outcome: The Judicial Panel found Mr McCoist to be guilty of charges 1 and 2, with a three-match suspension applied, suspended for 12 months.

But they have set the precedent for everyone else to have an automatic appeal citing the Sevco verdicts.
I have Primary 1 this year and I’m going to try to teach them about the rights they have and the responsibilities that go with those rights. I’m sure Scottish football will give me many examples to discuss with them, I’m pretty sure they will be able to see the inconsistencies!

  65. God its me again, sorry

Ah, you mean they could be trialists for TRFC because they we registered to SEVCO? But that would mean that they are different clubs!….ooops. Can opened, worms everywhere….

Blistering blue barnacles, Captain, don’t you know Ally was acquitted of the most serious charge? They found that he did not request, in a media interview, that the members of the panel be named in public, even though we all saw the said interview where to anyone who had ears to listen it was evident that he called for the said members to be named.

This is one of the biggest scandals in Scottish football in at least the last 10 minutes; I think each of us, the average Scottish football supporter, has a right to know the names of the gentlemen who acquitted Mr McCoist of that third charge and also to be told which lodge they attend.

    One Scotland, many masons

  67. OT – my hubby is jumping up and down like a loony. Jambos have just scored at Anfield. Go the Jambos!

  68. So cruel. But well done none the less. At the end of the day (sorry) there wasn’t much between the two sides. Lets hope Hearts can take some of that spirit into their domestic season.

  69. Unlucky Hearts. You did Scottish football proud tonight.
