  1. I don’t think Templeton will sign. I think it’s a publicity stunt.

Templeton is Headline Boy today after scoring against Liverpool, and the name on everyone’s lips. I think it’s Mr Charles courting publicity and playing to the bearpit again. Keeping attention deflected from the real issues.

If Templeton (who cannot possibly be stupid enough to think this is a good career move) signed for TRFC, I suspect that along with other TRFC player movements it may just blow the lid off the whole sorry affair for reasons alluded to in above posts. Not gonna happen. Shirley.

Of course, none of this applies if Vlad is pushing them along the M8 forcibly.

  2. So much for Bocanegra being a Sevco player after the closing of the transfer window. Fat Sally certainly learning from Chico in the lying front. And the MSM still lap it up.

  3. Ffs when is this cheque book manager going to realise that worthy success on the football field cannot simply be bought….reminds me of Pale Rider, the corrupt LaHood buying up all the available gold rich land backed by force and menaces and the plucky frontiersmen holding out as long as they can…is there a Preacher figure in our story? A a pale rider willing to put his reputation on the line to support the weak in the face of threats, menaces and filthy lucre…my Heart goes out to the Jambos who may lose their best players after a glorious European night to a 3rd division Frankenstein club, reincarnated after death

  4. Smartie & Paul

Would it be possible that CO dispatched SFA staff to Murray Park to ensure any of Sally’s late signings had their paperwork completed in time?

    Blisterin blue barnacles !
    Fishiness abounds, ….I should know

Well, the SFL one, anyway. The SPL one stopped at 23:00.

  7. Listen to the MSM when a star name is suggested for other clubs, mainly Celtic.
They all declare that Celtic cannot afford the wages.
    They may be correct.

Not one has wondered aloud how a Division 3 team can afford to pay SPLus wages.

When all the books come to be written about this saga, the one unanswerable question they will pose is: how, in the name of all that the traditional Rangers’ support held sacred, did so many stand idly by and watch like dumb animals the destruction of their footballing heritage?

If a fraction of the energy and effort that went into creating that ludicrous chart had been expended in asking hard questions of their Board even a few years ago, they might have prevented such a COMPLETE disaster.

I , personally, still cannot take in the immensity of what has so far happened.(It took an earlier poster today to remind me).

The mighty Rangers, reduced in a trice to a poorly performing third division club, with former owners and directors possibly due to face civil and criminal charges, a manager and CEO widely held in contempt as being no better than rabble-rousers, and a following so apparently locked in denial that they cannot bring rational thought and argument to bear ( no pun intended): who would have believed it a year ago?

The disgrace and mortal embarrassment of such a reduction in honour and status, with perhaps much more public shame to come, which they did nothing constructive to avert and are even now doing nothing to redeem, will live forever in the memories of any and all thinking supporters of the once Rangers FC.

How did they let it happen?

Well Said. The key point is how we/ Scottish football real fans react.
Once again, the questions need to be asked. Sally needs to be asked did he say that his club would be in the SPL next year. Straight out. It aint difficult.
Anyoneone out there with an NUJ Card?
Can this site ask someone we trust such as Alex to present a few pertinent questions?

  10. Two days ago

“Carlos is still very much a Rangers player,” he said. “There has been no activity or movement or change in the situation regarding Carlos so he will hopefully be involved in our next few games and be here post-window, so that’s where we are with Carlos.

“The longer it goes, I would say the more chance of everybody staying.”

Tonight he is away on loan, not transferred.

Who is pulling the footballing strings at Ibrox?

  11. When it all goes belly up as it must for Sevco then no fan of Rangers can expect any sympathy. We will all laugh. SFA will then go in
to meltdown. The game may very well collapse. I will still be laughing Whole thing needd to be ended. I now welcome

  12. carlos
said on skysports that it didnt come out the blue they were working on it for a few days

  13. Various shenanigans have happened since Sevco played their first game against Brechin

Despite these shenanigans being exposed on the internet they were ignored by the MSM and the SFA

Nobody has taken a blind bit of notice
    Well
    Hell mend them
The evidence is there if any Bears want to examine it
Sevco have a proven incompetent Manager who by a combination of circumstances can`t be sacked by his current Boss
    And
His Boss doesnt care two hoots what happens to Sevco after he leaves
    And
His Boss will be leaving well before Xmas when the fund raising scam has cheated the support for the second time in a year
    And
Any verbal promises made by the Boss to his Manager and players will be null and void when he abandons ship
    And
Sevco will be more impoverished after a fund raising than they were before
    ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    So
Apart from the incompetent few and the gullible many

Who cares what happens at Ibrox in the transfer window ?

  15. BBC reporting 4 year contract has been signed by Templeton …

  16. Iceman,
Don’t be worrying about “the imminent death of the game”
Armageddon didn’t seem to be a major problem now, did it?

  17. Oh Templeton..no..no..no is there no-one advising these young men? Just a gut feeling but major error has been made if stories of 4 year deal @ sevco is true 🙁 report card would read…really could do better!!!

  18. John Clarke says

Great post, another factor is the role of the SFA / SPL chief execs.

Despite a suggestion that they were recruited in order to be part of the great conspiracy, its more likely that they were good at the ol’ interview schmoozing and then found themselves as reasonably competent guys in what became a nightmare, that required more than just competency.

They didn’t have the charisma or gravitas or political nous to counter whatever pressure or forces were placed on them to become part of the institutionalised favouritism we now see laid bare.

It would be interesting for someone to be able to sit down with them over a wee sherry and they spilled the beans regarding the who and what that turned them to the dark side. Maybe RTC will be doing this is in a year or two when researching his / her second book.

This will, I predict, take place following the Scottish fitba revolution, when the lower league clubs had had enough of the shenanigans and cleared out the old guard.

  19. Brenda,

You’re right about the advice….do agents do due diligence on a club offering a 4 year contract? Whats that worth if the club goes into liquidation? Especially one with a known asset stripper in charge….

  20. Tic Tok
BBC web site not confirming Templeton 4 year deal as yet. Seems to be coming from twittersphere.

  21. My third, and last for tonight.

Clubs can normally sign freed players outside the transfer window, does this apply to TRFC during the embargo?

  22. Another reason for considering a stitch up, given the SFL rule on over 21 players, then number Sevco have already and the fact that some others will be aged 21 early in the year, would the two away on trial taken them over the limit if they had stayed. Now consider that they both expect to be back in a year, unless Sevco get rid of some players they will be over the limit again.
However this would not be the case if they were back in the SPL after reconstruction. Though this is just likely to be a coincidence, wouldn’t it

We are now hearing that the Carlos Bocanegra loan deal (to Racing Santander) may have hit a snag…

    00.17
Okay folks now we’re going to wrap up. Here’s our winners and losers of today’s deadline day action:

Winners of the Scottish Deadline Day: Dundee United – keeping Russell and Mackay-Steven is great business.

Losers of the Scottish Window: Hearts – they might have got to keep McGowan, but not adding many fresh faces to the squad and losing out on Templeton to Third Division Rangers is a bit of a blow after an impressive showing in the Europa League.

Winners of the English Window: Tottenham – the French captain/goalkeeper, snatching Clint Dempsey, and potentially Joao Moutinho. Impressive signings.

Losers of the English Window: Liverpool – losing out on Dempsey, being forced to loan out Carroll, not bringing in a notable replacement. A bit flimsy and disappointing, much like their performance against Hearts in the Europa League.

What do you think? Let us know through Twitter on @Record_Sport.

    00.15
While we’re here, we are hearing that David Templeton HAS signed for Rangers.

    00.14
Francesco Stella is NOT going to Rangers. That’s confirmed. Still waiting on news of David Templeton, but you can check our round-up of all the deadline day action later on. That’s it for tonight’s live blog!

THE SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE TRANSFER WINDOW IS SHUT.

And Rangers’ transfer embargo begins. They’ll be unable to sign any players until January 1st 2014.

They promised to sign about “five or six players today”. So far we have Francesco Stella, and potentially David Templeton.

  27. The Rangers fans “deserve” the best players, apparently. Have you ever heard anything more ridiculous?

Yet no one questions either the means nor the motives to achieve this. Why is this?

  28. If I was a member of the MSM, and I was hearing these players saying they have personally been advised by the main men at Ibrox that RFC Tribute Act WILL be playing in the SPL is the near future, I would be asking questions. Surely this is worth looking into?

  29. BBC Scotland’s Brian McLauchlin
“Paperwork for David Templeton move from Hearts to Rangers has been received by the SFA. Awaiting confirmation deal was concluded in time.”

Don’t worry Brian, even if was signed at 9:00 this coming morning it would be fine with the SFA.

Guessing as Templeton is the only one of a much talked about 8-6-5-3, signings, he and his agent must have been screwing every penny they could out of Sally and Mr Charles.

If confirmed a very poor move by the lad.

  30. WOTTPI @ 00:36am
A very poor move indeed showing a distinct lack of ambition and I think he will rue this day, broadfoot’s ‘contract’ was ripped up, could happen to anyone, and will hearts get paid this time? 🙂

  31. Templeton will be like 16 new signings according to the entire MSM tomorrow if he signs.

  32. Charles Paterson to Efe Ambrose: “Was Champions’ League football the reason you came here?”, then “What did Neil Lennon say to you to get you to come here?” Well done to the new man to remain non-committal to this sort of impish line of questioning.

I bet he won’t ask Templeton a similar question? “Was it Div 3 football that attracted you to come here, then what did Ally say to get you to come here”
Whatever it was it must have been good.

  36. Now, what about this. Our reporter Brian McLauchlin has found out that the Scottish FootballLeague’s computer to register players crashed at 23:55 BST.

Therefore, Hearts and Rangers are unclear whether the David Templeton deal has gone through…

  37. Got to the end of this after coming in from the pub 20 mins ago and no one seems to have asked … why (if the story about Templeton turn out to be true) have Hearst accepted the deal from a club (well you know what I mean) that has already shafted them out of a million (OK a bit payed back)??

I assume that Green turned up at Tynecastle with a case full of tenners? If I was a Hearts fan I would be wanting to know if anything was actually paid up front.

Of course we could all wake up tomorrow to find it was all a dream after all.

  38. I’ve come to the opinion that when we talk about Sevco/The Rangers/Rangers/SFA/SPL/MSM we are not talking about separate bodies or institutions. I believe it is more accurate to view them as separate branches of the same body.

When an organization or company or institution is under threat it does everything it can to protect itself. Yet each of the above does everything it can to protect Rangers, twisting themselves into autofellative levels of contortion to protect Rangers or further its interests – even to the detriment of itself. Are the SFA and MSM gaining anything from their handling of the scandal? No. Do they continue on the same course regardless? Yes.

When you think of them as separate entities this does not make sense. When you think of them as different parts of the same beast it makes perfect sense. The parasite has so deeply enervated itself into the hosts (succulent lamb, Campbell Ogilvie) that they have lost the ability to function without it, making them defacto one and the same, willing – nay compelled – to do everything they can to help it survive.

They may be, under law, separate organizations. But if it looks like a bear…

    Quote from BBC Sports
“Rangers hope to have the capture of David Templeton confirmed by the Scottish FA

Templeton agreed a move close to the midnight signing deadline and Rangers must now hope that the paperwork was completed on time. ”

Is there something odd about this or am I just too drunk?

    —————————

Yep, expect a hasty change to the current trialist rules. 2 seasons instead of 2 games!
Kinda proves the point that basic questins remain un-asked in MSMthough.

  52. The reason the computer crashed is that they need to be run on electricity, not the bull$hit that these idiots have been trying to feed into it. Surprised it has lasted this long after its failed attempt at registering Jorge Cadete.

  53. Templeton’s a sevconian ???? Get your contract checked and checked again wee man 🙁

  54. Lots of conspiracies about the lateness of Templeton’s signing tonight, but as we all know over the last few SKY years, the actual deadline is only for a TV audience. The famed malfunction of the fax machine(really! in the 21st Century?), ala Tottenham i.e Harry, very often lead to over the deadline finishes. The transfer window on SKY is primarily a plugfest for the whole day, where they exaggerate the importance of the window and especially the cult of Jim White. Why? Getting back to the SEVCO signing of Templeton ( his surname actually derives from being able to settle for something), the lad is now 23 years old and has not exactly set the heather on fire. Two seasons ago he looked a real prospect, and was widely seen to be coveted by Rangers (media fiction or not), only to be scared off by a prohibitive transfer fee. The lad has defininetly not gone forward as much as was anticipated. He hardly kicked a ball last season and if Hearts have been offered a significant sum of money, if the lad is in the last year of his contract, then they should take it, up front, with the rest of the balance owed for Wallace, and an apology for the sins of the previous club. Try and extract as much as possible as soon as possible, because things cannot be allowed to go on the way they have been. Concerned Celtic fan, follower of RTC, first time poster, annoyed that other TSFM posters think CFC fans only think about our team and never consider the ‘other’ teams.

  55. The Rangers have the SFA over a barrell, as a fledgling new company and new club (with old membership) they can of course claim their existance is fragile and that unless they are given their own way they risk collapsing which of course means risking the possibility of them not being viable and thus No Rangers the one thing the SFA Chief Exec himself warned was the Armageddon and Social Unrest etc etc. Nice negotiating position you put your own organisation in their Mr Regan now all Sevco/The Rangers have to do is play the Doomsday card to get their own way.

Might The Rangers FC have canvassed some or all of the SPL clubs who voted against them? Maybe they fancy their chances of another vote in a years time yielding a different outcome and are confident they can muster enough SPL votes to enter a presumably enlarged SPL next season? Maybe this is why Gers seem Uber-confident they will be back in the top-flight after only a season?

David Templeton began his footballing career in 2005-06 season as a 16 year old playing for Stenny and after moving to Hearts, playing in their youth ranks, playing higher up the SFL Divisions on loan to Raith befor finally establishing himself as a first team player, one of the best prospects in the SPL, scoring goals, scoring at Anfield in European competition and establishing his credentials for International recognition he now decides to go back to play in the bottom tier of Scottish football at the same fourth division grounds he first played and trampled as a young laddie seven years previously……………..talk about a career turning full circle except nowadays even Stenny play in a higher division than The Rangers.

  56. Whilst we are on the subject of signings slightly disappointed that yet again some of Celtic’s newly won Champions League windfall will be used for the recruitment of a further 3 foreign players, none of whom I’d heard of, and whilst of course they may well turn out to be decent or very good players I can’t help but feel disappointed that some of that money to be spent on their transfer fees or wages wasn’t instead spent on recruiting Scottish or Scottish-based players for those positions.

  57. I think Templeton is a very good player with real potential. I wish him the best but it’s a shame he won’t be in the SPL this season, really good player to watch when he is on his game.

  58. Of course the MSM will spin this as The Rangers proving beyond any doubt they remain THE attraction in Scottish football, WATPism will be strengthened by these signings and the new mantra of the sychophantic MSM will now become that The Rangers having made these investments in players must surely now be promoted back into the SPL to ensure these players (Templeton, Wallace, Black etc) don’t stagnate, for the good of the game, for Craig Levein & Scotland, fans deserve to see the best players etc yada yada yada. Circular logic of course but we all know it’s coming and it’s only a matter of how long before we start seeing these arguments being presented.

That made me laugh! CFC are in the group stage of The Champions League and yet Templeton decides to go to t’Ragers and thereby sink his career without a trace when he could’ve signed for CFC,no problem, and saved them from having to look further afield in at least one instance.
But hey, why have European nights, home and away, when you can have all the glory of 4th. tier football without having to leave Scotland.
Good luck to Templeton…..he’ll need it.

The fella asked to speak to me with regard to my Celtic shares.
Mrs. 666 not being the most patient wee wummin, told him that I had died in the night, and hung up.
A minute later the bold yin phones back , asking her if she’ll be interested in selling said shares at 7 quid a pop.

The wife met me after work for a few refreshments tonight at our favourite local Bar, [O’Neill’s], coincidentally on 3rd Avenue.

Afterwards we walked past 708, 3rd Avenue – the address of AJ Nelson offices.

It was a ‘shared’ office block – a bit shabby – and not a top tier firm location by any means.

Anyway, this company might not have anything to do with the ‘shares cold calling’, but there you go.

    …and McCoist is still a disgrace… 🙂

    (2) Who was Bocanegra registered to when he played against Brechin?
    (3) Who was McCulloch registered to against East Stirling?
    (4) Who was Little registered to so he could play against Brechin and East Fife?
    (5) Can Bocanegra or Goian be be recalled before next Sept when the transfer embargo means they cannot register any players over 18 before then?
    (6) Are T’Rangers paying any of their wages while Bocanegra is on loan to a Spanish 2nd Division team or are T”Rangers paying any portion of Goian’s wages while he is on loan to an Italian 2nd Division club?
    (7) What is the transfer fee for Templeton – and is it all cash up front? Has Wallace’s fee (as has been reported) been added as a “sweetner”?
    (8) What happened to the Newcastle players coming on loan as part of the Mike Ashley “investment”?
    (9) What fees/expenses were spent on the 6 to 8 players at Murray Park on trial?
    (10) Why is CG suggesting he still has Naismith’s registration? Has he let slip all players are still registered with SFA for Rangers NIL? Is he confused still who he works for – T’Rangers as CEO or advisor for Rangers NIL?
    (11) Where has Malcolm Murray disappeared to?
    (12) Given that CG is very concerned about the so called “bogotry” against his club, is there any concern that many songs are being heard to be sung at T’Rangers games this season that were banned at Rangers-NIL games over the years but seems to have been resurrected this season? Is there going to be any attempt from the club to stamp this out?
    (13) Has Swally invested in the club – yes or no? If not as per his comments he may like to, then can CG reissue his list of investors and this time avoid making up ghost investors? (Note this is the second time he has named an investor who has denied afterwards the claim).
    (14) Recently there were claims fo being the only Scottish club not in debt – however Rapid Vienna say they were nto paid and there is money still due to Hearts for Wallace – does this not contradict the statement? What are the plans to become debt free?
    (15) CG made the claim that he would not lay off one person at Ibrox if the T’Rangers supported the new club by buying season tickets (which they have fair play to them – however without asking the questions first…TBC) can he now state that he will keep this promise?
    (16) When is Murray Park going to be formally renamed to Moses McNeil or Davie Cooper Park?
    (17) Are funds from RFFF still being used by T’Rangers for ongoing expenses – even though the ST money has been coming in?
    (18) What is the long term business model being budgeted for the next 3 years?
    (19) What is the situation with the Club Deck – have the Debenture holders reached an agreement on their credit status as promised on the T’Rangers website?
    (20) For the Forres cup tie and other games outside Glasgow, are T’Rangers going to continue to travel the day before to games and stay in expensive hotels?
    (21) If there is any shortfall in money this season, do the investors have an agreement to ensure T’Rangers have access to money to keep the club out of administration?
    (22) Can you provide details on the upcoming share issue yet – it was promised last month to be done in Aug?

Chico can always add no 23 “Have you been punished enough” and no 24 “Isn’t the crowd great” and no 25 “Why is Walter so great” to these questiosn to end with a love fest if he wants….

  65. Morning all.
So another transfer window closes.Celtic,as usual, will be accused of not loosening the purse strings.Don’t know how things will pan out but CFCs signing policy over the past couple of seasons has by and large worked.CL group stages reached, cash flowing in,low debt, which could be wiped out by the end of the season. All in all fair enough.
The apparent lack of activity by the other clubs in the SPL I put down to financial restraints.Clubs will also be keeping an eye on future income from SPL,waiting for payments due. We’re also still deep in recession, with no real sign of things picking up soon.
I don’t agree(but I may be wrong) with the conspiracy theories flying around WRT Sevcos transfer activities. All I see there is a lot of high earners leaving,to be replaced by “journeymen”,willing to ply their trade in Div 3 for more than they’d probably earn elsewhere.Young templeton though, may regret his decision. He could be throwing away his career for a few bob more than HMFC could pay him.Yesterday he was touted as an up and coming Scotland international, starring and scoring against LFC at Anfield.I’m willing to bet that a couple of seasons from now no one will be talking about him.
RFC fans, once again have bought STs in large numbers on the back of promises of romping through the leagues, major investors, merchandising deals(have they twigged wrt “Rangers Retail” yet)new signings etc.Bottom line is the Sevco squad is a lot weaker, and smaller than a couple of weeks ago,and the RFC fans are stuck with it for the forseeable future.
This is reality for Sevco fans and it’ll soon start to kick in.A couple of injuries/suspensions and the flaws will become apparent.
CG though,is not bothered. He’s cutting costs. He’s protecting his,and Allys investment. The more he spends the less there is for him.How much did he pay for Templeton?.
Our little Yorkshire Pudding isn’t daft when it comes to money. When he goes he’ll be taking as much of it as he can with him. That’s the plan, isn’t it.

    Impressive set of questions Invisible.

Some impressive lines too in the fine article by Glen Gibbons (stunney’s first link above):

“The juxtaposition of those two occasions [Thursday night’s matches at Ibrox and Celtic Park] gave potentially significant explicitness to the contrast in fortunes of the country’s two biggest clubs. It has long been this column’s view, for example, that the most curious corollary to Rangers’ irreversible slide towards administration and, eventually, liquidation is the widespread readiness among so many of the Ibrox club’s followers not only to accept, but to embrace their change of status, from perennial league championship contenders to toilers in the hinterland of the Third Division.”

“This almost insouciant approach to a severe downturn seems to betoken a failure – or, more likely, a deliberate refusal – to recognise the gravity of the club’s commercial situation …”
