The two things that unite fans of ALL clubs at the minute is;
1. the fact that the last few months (at least) have been an embarrassing shambles, and
2. anger at the lack of transparency at the SFA and SPL.

I think that ultimately that may be the undoing of several individuals at the top of the legislative wing of the game.

People like Regan, Doncaster, Ogilvie and Topping (and others perhaps), regardless of whether they have acted honourably or not, have no friends on either end of these arguments, and since it is a demonstrable fact that what has occurred has been shambolic, those in charge will be sacrificed.

However the stark fact is that as long as people continue to attend football matches and hand over their cash for tickets and merchandise, the clubs will have no compelling reason to make their processes more transparent. Starting up something that is honest and above reproach is a much easier task than making a corrupt and inherently closed society into an honest an open one.

My opinion is that it is all about money and influence. if you take away the money, you also take away the influence. Our job as fans, not just on this blog but everywhere, is to hold those in charge (and their demented, crayon-wielding gophers in the press) accountable, and make them believe that we are capable of organising economic campaigns against them in order to achieve that.

One of the “Corsica” messages passed on to us was that CG had made several attempts to buy Leeds United, but each time was chased off by Bates. Corsica was told this by Bates himself, although why he chased him off is not clear.

It is suggested that there may be links between CG and the secretive Dubai consortium which is now in the process of buying that club.

I don’t see how the Rangers expedition would leverage CG in the Leeds situation though, but there may be some of our resident experts who would?

If it is a topic worth discussing, then fair enough. If not, we can add it to the bank of questions as yet unanswered.

Oldgold is one of Jack’s better known trolls
He is well known for posting out and out bovine excrement

cj,

True. It’s also not one of his more plausible explorations.

For a start, it’s an SPL inquiry not an SFA one. Also, if there were reasons specifically to abandon Nimmo’s inquiry that would not hold for a general case in a completely different organisation.

If true, this is something that would certainly have leaked out by now.

Absolutely no doubt that Old Gold is trolling here, and I did think long and hard before giving him posting privileges again, but if we can’t give him a chance, where’s the love eh? 🙂

One of the inconvenient things about the anonymity attached to many of us on blogs is that the provenance of information is sometimes very difficult to come by. My apologies then for my scepticism on some information I received tonight.

The information came from a person who says (s)he was the Charity expert often mentioned in posts by Corsica on RTC. The poster went on to say that sadly, Corsica had passed away six weeks ago after a battle with cancer.

If this is true then it is very sad indeed. If anyone can confirm or refute this, I would appreciate it.

The message contained some other information which I am currently trying to verify before sharing, so bear with me on that.

If the post was a hoax then my apologies.

Rangers were not the lender. The Sub-Trusts, into which Rangers made a contribution via an EBT, are the “lender”. Rangers gave the money away and there can be no suggestion of repayment to them.

Yes, but had the loans been repaid by the lendees, Rangers would have been able to apply for one themselves had they set up a sub-trust in their favour. Therefore the money would have been available to the club in times of hardship.

Or perhaps I am missing something here?

Res 12 is as you say important, but I am convinced that Celtic have no desire whatsoever to pursue its aims.
We could have a discussion about the possible reasons, but ultimately if DD is disinclined to seek a proper answer to these questions, then the SFA will dodge the bullet.
Thus my question to Campbellsmoney: do individual (or groups of) shareholders have locus to seek legal redress here?
Going at it in that fashion may even force Celtic and other clubs for that matter to come on board.

Is there anyone outside of the clubs who may have locus to challenge LNS? Is there any basis for a challenge?

I don’t know is the answer, but I doubt it. You see its not a question of law really. Its not a proper court – its a made up thing by a private body.

I meant a challenge in law. For example, is there a framework whereby a shareholder(s) of a club(s) could challenge the outcome?

It does seem rather odd that, if a most people here believe, RFC achieved honours dishonestly and in doing so denied other clubs prize-money and opportunity that those clubs are reluctant to seek redress.

My guess I that the must have something to lose by bringing that up – but what?

Is there a mechanism through which the SFA/SPL could be sued by individual shareholders for loss of earnings caused by a lack of proper regulation by the governing bodies.
