The club/company can limp on for a good bit longer yet.
I even believe that with a bit of support CEO Wallace can get things on the straight and narrow but the reality is (as it always has been and DK is right on that point) they will still need millions extra, from somewhere, above normal income levels per annum if they wish to challenge at the top level. However as more clubs are cutting their cloth the gap is perhaps not as wide as some people think, or want it to be, albeit Celtic will still be a good few furlongs off in the distance.

The challenge is trying to keep the stadium as full as possible when the product on the park isn’t that good and, if you do escape the championship, 2nd spot is perhaps all you are fighting for.

I agree that the clumpany can stagger on for a bit yet, perhaps until about 16th May or thereabouts but I disagree that Wallace can get things on the straight and narrow without trimming the player wage bill to around £3M and cutting costs of around £4m elsewhere.

A good place to start would be to raise/borrow £5M to enable the players, coaches and managers contracts to be paid up. This could be cobbled together from donations/loans from rich super fans and emotionally involved normal fans as it will SAVE the club once and for all and always and forever etc.

Close Murray Park and train at say Glasgow Green (I believe Kilmarnock are moving out of there and if the facilities were good enough for a Premiership side then even a soon to be down on its luck Chamionship side should be able to cope) . I wonder if this kind of detail is in the 128 day review?

One would also suspect the 128 day review to have considered Administration and perhaps even Liquidation to demonstrate in retrospect that they were always trying to protect shareholder interests. The SFA may have been sounded out about this option and how well it would fit within existing rules!! If this option is the chosen one I expect a full rebellion by all clubs to bar them from entry.

Scottish Football does not need a weak financial basket case of a club. Things are downsizing nicely and the inflationary bubble previously caused by Rangers debt spree is deflating gently back to a size where clubs can find their level and compete more evenly. Only Celtic are experiencing the predicted doomsday scenario and the response by some at the helm of that club is to cry Armaggeddinoutahere!!

Very interesting result at Tynecastle today. Moving on from the point Hearts first entered Admin it is hard to find fault how the process has been handled, both by the club and the fans. Into the bargain, results like today suggest there may be a bright future ahead with their young team. A couple of experienced older heads in there and they will certainly be a force in the Championship.

Despite the wrongs of financial mismanagement that forces clubs into Adminstration in the first place, Hearts have been a model on how to deal with it.

Did the taxpayer lose any money on this one? How much debt did Hearts dump?

RIP Sandy Jardine. Like a true blue you stood up for your club to the very end.

That he did. But I prefer to think of him in his prime playing for Scotland with Danny McGrain on the other side

This isn’t going to get better. There isn’t a plan. There is no way out. They still spend more than they bring in. Buried deep in the psyche of the Rangers fan is a sense of entitlement and that permeates the Club and is both an albatross and millstone round its neck.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
As a long time lurker and infrequent poster on this blog I read a lot about this “sense of entitlement” and in the past haven’t paid too much attention to it. I usually think that it is the actions of those in control and not the mindset of supporters that guide events. However, I have come to the same conclusion as thirdmanrunning on this.

When the “sense of entitlement” mindset is complemented by total deference to leaders (any leaders!! Whyte, Green. SDM etc) it really can be a barrier to constructive and positive thinking. The SMSM play a major role in promoting this group think by supporting, at the drop of a hat, whoever is the next leader as the saviour and connecting all stories (real and invented) back to Rangers, Celtic, Premiership and so on.

Many commentators are of the opinion that the two clubs meeting again on the football field will lead to carnage off it but are willing for others (not them of course) to pay the price of that. Personally I hope they never meet again. Society has a problem but Scottish Football does not need to be the battle ground for its expression.

Matty Roth – nail on head! It would improve the equality of the environment and drive the debate no end. If we could get some Rangers fans on here who had enough time on their hands to research and enhance the debate from a different viewpoint, in ways that I can’t, it would enhance the blog immeasurably. And of course the main point in what you said – “reasoned and non dogmatic”. I hope we get there one day. And that is not in any way to belittle the contributions of all the posters here already, who make the site worth visiting day after day, hour after hour.

I can see the benefit of having more Rangers fans on here to talk honestly about their club and how it can be cleansed financially and morally so that the spivs and sectarianism can be left in the past and football and fan ownership are seen as the way forward. But that’s just my opinion.

More Rangers fans on here with opinions on this that and the next thing (ie oldco/newco, TUPE) would only make it more WoS focused and ultimately like SSB without the annoying voices (BFDJ, Dalzeel, Hannah, etc and Frankie’s snorts).

TFSM I believe is a more serious project than that (aside from its obsessive censorship) and needs to be looking at issues from an investigative/factual basis. Am I wrong? What is your view on this post?
