Yarmy…just returned from a lovely Sunday evening in the Epping Forest…three pints of Adnam’s Broadside raised to your side

A bit OT but if we’re discussing pubs in a misspent youth – Essex – were you at the Forest Gate in Bell Common? Drank there a few times whilst they built the M25 through the nearby cricket pitch – they were very considerate and covered it over to form a tunnel and restored the cricket pitch on top!
=========================================================
SoB(sic)…the very place…! Amazing feat of civil engineering moving such important local bits and replacing them!
A nice photo of the construction process hangs there.
Sorry TSFM…no more OT
———————————————————————————
Had to sign back in… To just clarify a wee bit, here….
Imagine the SFA as the Department of Transport/Govt in the above situation…
Do you really believe the SFA would do the right thing for Epping Forest when their favourite M25 project was mooted?
Of course they wouldn’t! They’d blast straight through the Forest, gouge a hole in the glorious, ancient Earth and think no one would attempt to stop their beloved M25 from being in its rightful place!

Now… Imagine TSFM as the Friends of Epping Forest (FOEF).
A band of very ordinary punters who were outraged at the insult to all things right and fair… And who had a smattering of “older”professional people who really didn’t want to play the system any more, but knew how to and that they HAD to.

FoEF’s efforts won the cut and cover M25 back in the Sixties… And we are still a ‘positive’ thorn in the side of the Corporation of the City of London who should have been ensuring the integrity of OUR Forest. All planning applications, encroachments on our Forest, mooted changes are addressed by our members and there are a thousand eyes watching all parts of it

Banging on a wee bit, here… But I want to stress that us wee teams have been known to win through in the end… Despite the SFAs and DOTs of the world.

Btw, it’s another glorious sunny day here, in OUR Forest. We intend to keep on enjoying it. They can’t take it away from us.

UTH. I appreciate your interpretation of the term now in extremely general use throughout Scotland’s diddy club firmament (and doubt very much if it’ll be soon dropped).
Diddy club fans simply do not acknowledge that Celtic play any part in it other than looking down their rich ph noses.
It’s OUR badge of self-disrespect and mocking.
WokingCelt:
I’m in complete agreement that Scottish referees seem to be more inept than those of other nations… and changes are required….
Referees in Ingerland are currently being lambasted for their regularly changing (week to week) VAR interpretation and of simply ignoring VAR when it should be used (according to pundits…).

Bent is the same as openly and liberally interpreting the actual rules.

Broke is the same as being unable to retrospectively punish a transgression of the rules because, due to duplicity, the SFA was unaware that rules were at some time being transgressed by (for example) a now deid club.

I await a shedload of comments about how it took 97 minutes for a bluenose-biased ref to help defeat 10 man Ross County…

This should be an end to whataboutery.

The bigger clubs get the breaks, purely by chance.

So… yet another blue-nosed, biased, establishment ref let the game run on for an extra umpteen minutes in order to help defeat Ra Sellic!!

Shame that the Buddie teenagers didnae capitulate as they were meant to…

My point is…
It’s not always about you, it’s not always poor Celtic that have the hard knocks.
Sometimes us diddy teams do not win the cups….and mostly, as I said…

…The “bigger” clubs get the breaks, “purely by chance”.
(Mind you, as a diddy club fan, I can see how the victim-mentality can be be so seductive… but it sadly makes this forum rather repetitively unattractive.)

“ when Rangers were on the climb back to the Premier league”

Rangers died a dozen years ago.
Didn’t you hear?

Good luck with your effort, JC.

I tried a similar tack (pointing out the twists, lies, cavilling for the new club) at the time when the Eye was mocking Shifty McGifty/MacLennan in his new appointment, and the following was the final sentence in its response to me. (From someone in the office – not IH.)

“ While the club’s rebirth was a significant legal/business event, in football terms the new club still plays at the same stadium, in the same colours, with the same fans as before.”
