A couple of points:

broganrogantrevinoandhogan says:
Dave King invests his money, or someone’s money, in an early incarnation of ‘Rangers’.
More Information: David Southern, Tel: 0131-624 0800

Would this be the same David Southern who presided over the rape of Hearts, including being an enthusiastic cheerleader for a patently nonsense “share issue” that resulted in Hearts fans being fleeced for @1M pounds without so much as a piece of paper to show for it?

Apologies to this Davd Southern if he’s nothing to do with that fiasco.

Great blog by Corsica1968 this morning. Substitute the name of any other club for Celtic and you could send the same letter to any of the other clubs. As I’ve felt all along it’s all our clubs that are ultimately to blame for allowing and indeed collaborating with the corruption and rule-breaking. We can point fingers at “rangers”, spivs, the SFA etc all day long, but none of this happened without our clubs agreeing to it! I sent a similar although much less well worded letter to Rod Petrie and also refuse to pay a penny more to Hibs, due to their part in this fiasco. Rod Petrie is one of the prime culprits in my opinion.

Finally, and with the greatest respect to the Celtic contributors here, could they please take the Hampden cover discussion over to a Celtic blog. Apart from the fact that it gives the impression that this is a Celtic site, those of us of a non “old firm” (may it rest not in peace) persuasion find talk of a “Celtic” and “Rangers” end at the national stadium a depressing reminder of how inconsequential you see the rest of us, and of how uneven the playing field has been over the decades of my life. The national stadium does not belong to any one or group of clubs.

SFM – The Next Steps
Truly, a new low for Scottish football, when it was hard to believe it could get even lower.

And the timing of this Dave king announcement stinks, giving “Rangers” a big boost a day before the first playoff game against Hibs. The SFA are now nakedly open about their loyalties, they don’t even try to hide it anymore. The only thing more dissappointing than this is the silence I expect from Hibs, and all the other clubs. They deserve what they get for their acquiesence in this charade.

Some totally staggering percentage of ‘Americans” have never been outside their own State, let alone outside the States.
John, I’ve met many, many Scots and Canadians that have never been outside their own country either. Does that make them ignorant too? And do you mean alll 330 million Americans? Or would you sub-divide them into categories, some less ignorant than others based on location, politics, race or gender? Just curious.

fair comment sir – but not much football discussion today – so just kicking a can around hoping someone would come along to go in goal. Political naughty step for me for a while 🙂

oh, I wouldn’t want to stifle you good sir, it’s just that I actually come here for a bit of relief from all that to be honest 🙂 Please don’t think I was criticizing you personally of course, wouldn;t dream of that. So no need for the naughty step.

And you’re right it’s very quiet, I think many of us were half expecting some bad news to be slipped out yesterday, SFA DK decision for sinstance, but it didn’t happen.

Nice clear statement from Leanne Dempster today I thought, about why Hibs will abide by the rules and what it means for Hibs. Rules eh!

Would anybody on here be really that surprised if ‘sir’ dave & al the yank were next to take a seat on the board ? Or even if ‘calm bull’ retired back to his old haunt ?

I am not a gambling man but I’d be willing to put money on Campbell Ogilvie being appointed in some capacity at “Rangers” following his stepping down from the SFA. I think it’s a certainty and I confidently predict this to come to pass.

And it’ll be “job done” for him. In my opinion his appointment at the SFA was part of the plan to protect “Rangers”. SDM and co knew that the Big L was on the way and needed to ensure that a phoenix Rangers could rise from the ashes. CO was to be placed at the SFA (following a sham period at Hearts to pretend there was distance) to ensure pesky rules didn’t get in the way. And that he has done magnificently. So it’ll be back to “Rangers” to claim his reward.

All just IMHO of course.

Come now! You are speaking like a disappointed fan, upset by a temporary set-back in a long and illustrious history over most of which you were at
the very heart and soul of the best in Scottish
Ach, you got me there John, and thanks for your kind words.

Hibs may have no “right” to be there, but if a certain new club makes it instead of us, I will be boiling with indignation I can assure you!
