Funnily enough thats a timely post coinen i..mat./// (sorry) 😳 I was halfway through a post that basically said that the coverage of the tax case (or lack of) has been a contributory factor to the continuing befuddlement. If you put the loan scenario to non TSFM’rs in simplistic terms I have no doubt they could follow it. They could then make a judgement as to perception of guilt, call it the OJ Simpson effect if you like. I deleted it as I came to the view that hang on, if the majority opinion was they were legal then is it fair on an entity to provide such critical focus? I’m still undecided (but suffice it to say I deleted the original post), but it has allowed us to get to where we are today. If Lord Doherty rejects the appeal there will be much reporting of the victory. However I don’t expect the victory to be described as a legal technicality vis a vis a loan, it will be that RFC were right to make remunerative payments to employees and pay no tax, and it is all of the rest of us tax paying mugs that are wrong! There’s a balance to be struck somewhere.

I haven’t watched the clip so I’m maybe missing something, but to answer your question, because Leigh Griffiths isn’t just a fan?

My point exactly.

Footballwise last 16 is achievable. With soft funding, it could even become routine, as in routinely loss making!

Just on the admin points deduction stuff. Dont see the reason for the doubt tbh. The ability to sell a club without the need for admin after the close season begins has to be worth an extra couple of mill from he who would be saviour shirley. And being able to actually blame the fans. Thats just genius!

Don’t discount Celtics own approach to their ‘schizophrenia’ either in terms of its influence on ‘the rest’ and I include sevco in that.

They can be serious euro contendors if they wish, and if they can find the funds. Alternatively they can continue where they are now (or more accurately were a year ago imo), euro small fish with an occasional big bite and walk the SPL or they can slacken off from a financial perspective, bank the CL monies for the future and slip back towards the bunch, doing just enough to remain champions. Ironically, without a european dividend to the rest of the clubs, their (the clubs) best interests lie in option 3.

I think that certainly in recent years, it would be much more accurate for it to read…

"When you pull on that jersey you are not just playing for a football club, you're playing for a PLC"

Sorry, me no understandy…

I thought the separation was an accepted given now no…?

You have to remember Menace the “being out” and the positive test are not necessarily related.  As I understand it, Players 1-4 can be out and player 5, who is within just one of 1-4’s training bubble can test positive for the fan to struggle.

Agreed wottpi.  Aberdeen in a way actually called their bluff and said ok we’ll play.  The approach now seems to be that we’ll all simply avoid there being a repeat rather than address what I personally think is inevitable at some point.

and FWIW I still wouldn’t agree with giving “them upstairs“ executive powers to do what they deem fair.  They negated that possibility a long time ago.

The issue would have been (I think) how does the SPFL order a game to be forfeit if “the offending side” is standing there ready to play?

What will happen if for instance in the hypothetical match City versus Utd, 4 of City’s players and families are pictured in Dobbies having lunch in close proximity and the pictures hit the Rags websites?  Or, as is perfectly possible, 2 from each side?

i assume that’s the purpose of tomorrow’s zoom call with managers and captains.

Similarly I’m not sure on what grounds the SG could act.  They can order the postponement, as they did, not the forfeit.

and of course, if City happen to be top 5 premiership and Utd are part time, is it even fair to apply the play or forfeit rule?

Absolutely Homunculus, particularly the last line. Which is what I suspect will make it completely unworkable.
