PS oh yes and when Sir Walter of Cardigan was doing decent job with the National team, those guys at Ibrox who were supposed to be leaders of our game tempted him back to Govan because they were more important than anything else. What a fecking joke.

Re Paul Murray and Rangers place in driving Scottish football forward.

While my heart lies at Tynecastle these days let’s not forget (as I am lead to belive)

Hibs first team in Europe
Hibs first flood lights
Hibs first shirt sponsorship
His first undersoil heating
Clydebank and Aberdeen first all seated stadiums.

I also recall Hibs bringing in two or three foreign lads in bthec late 70s or early 80s before it was the done thing. (Finnish lads maybe??)

Paul Murray is a joke. Rangers and to a certain extent Celtic, who in my opinion failed themselves and the rest of Scottish football by failing to build on their European successes in the 60s and 70s, could be argued as, historically, not being progressive at all. At least when McCann got a hold of Celtic he took them in the right direction. The club Paul Murray speaks of had a sectarian signing policy for most of its existence FFS. In latter years it was a castle built on the sand of friendly bank loans and dodgy tax avoidance schemes. For a man with 50 years on the planet his memory is somewhat selective. This is an acting Chairman!! No better than the man who would be King for spouting nonesense, IMHO.

If I was a bear then listening to King’s airport interview I would probably be happy. He came across well, answered questions and gave a few opinions on how things would go.

All fine and well until you start to dig deeper. While he may be willing to squander his kids inheritance I’m not so sure the others are without some form of security. As he was very vague about getting rid of Ashley what’s is the upwards of £20m going to be secured against being Ashley has the assets sewn up and may object to them being hawked again.

I for one can’t see Kennedy, who was as tight as a ducks are when trying to buy from D&P, part with his cash on a nod and a wink from Dave.

Where is this second place team going to come from? (My guess is they will attempt to weaken their competitors squads by offering just over what guys at Aberdeen and ICT are on). A good few million on players and then wages required. Nothing to say of other teams not being scared of TRangers anymore and more likely to have a good go at them.

By the time they look under the bonnet they may not have a pot to p!ss in so footballing plans could well go out the window.

Like all those property programmes you may want the ideal home but the reality is it always dearer than you first thought and something has to give. So the question is what do you compromise on? The alternative that you never see on the TV is that the folk overstretched themselves and had to sell up a months down the line after the cameras were long gone 🙂

As discussed a while back the media have their favourite rent a quote guys on speed dial.

Of them all Prof John Curtis in his analysis of the voting patterns and polls tends to put his money where his mouth is by making clear predictions and saying when things are uncertain.

Patey always talks in a calming tone and paints pretty broad brush strokes for the masses. As he isn’t getting his day rate for these puff pieces he will not talk of something as vulgar as money!!

My guess is that if he was on the inside on a contract to sort matters out down Govan way he would have a different story to tell and it would be more of a hard-nosed cost cutting, right the ship type affair as pursued by L&L

It Is Better To Offer No Excuse Than A Bad One

Indeed. And that was my other thought.
Even if Mark Allen does a good job T”Rangers wouldn’t see any cash for any upcoming talent (internal or bought in)  for a god number of years.
To date a good few lads showing talent have been allowed to leave to keep the lights on.
At present the only prospect they have is McRorie who I think has stepped up and performed well when asked. He certainly has confidence and could develop into a decent centre back playing with the likes of Souttar for Scotland.

I am sure the thought will have crossed other’s minds but will say it anyway.
Celtics ‘free money’ from the VVD  transfer is more than T’Rangers stated  loan requirements to keep the lights on for the next year or two.
Thats the size of the gap between Celtic and the rest of us.

Thought that may be the case but was wondering if someone would be trying to get ahead of the game.
