Comment on Staying On The Problem by StevieBC.

The Gary Ralston DR article seems to boil down to one relatively trivial point: Regan – allegedly – fibbed to the DR !
And that bastion of honest, investigative journalism has apparently reacted to this misinformation – and with some briefing provided from the Blue Room and/or Level42.
Don’t think there is a story here – just a fluffy squirrel as mentioned above.

If Regan appeases TRFC then – again – it will send out all the wrong signals to Scottish football fans.
And, to cap off the whole ridiculous RFC/TRFC saga would it not be fitting if Regan actually left because the Ibrox club wanted him out…i.e. Regan won’t be leaving because of any systematic cheating / mismanagement at the SFA over the last 4+ years though !

[Going for a hat-trick / my own bold highlights.]

Joao Havelange: Former Fifa president and IOC member dies aged 100
…The Brazilian was predecessor to Sepp Blatter at world football’s governing body, serving from 1974 to 1998.
He resigned as Fifa’s honorary president in April 2013 following an investigation into bribery allegations…
He was an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member from 1963 until 2011, resigning because of ill health…
In 2010, a BBC Panorama programme accused Havelange and son-in-law Ricardo Teixeira of taking millions of dollars in bribes from Swiss marketing agency International Sport and Leisure (ISL) to retain the company as Fifa’s sole official marketer…
His resignation from the IOC five years ago avoided an investigation into the ISL allegations…”
A 95 year old ‘dodgy geezer’ on the IOC ?!
No wonder cheating seems to be the real ‘sport’ at the Olympics !

Staying On The Problem
“Rangers boss Mark Warburton has been found out – his team is predictable and flawed: Kenny Shiels launches new attack”

Unsure if mentioned already, but this is a surprising headline and article from the DR yesterday.
I thought only articles validating Warburton’s managerial prowess – despite minimal experience – and his opinions on how to improve Scottish football overall, were to be published by the SMSM ?!

How did this article slip through the net then ?
What was/is it’s purpose ?
Or am I just being paranoid…?
Who said that ? 22

Staying On The Problem
I watched the 100m final last night, and was pleased – along with many – that Bolt won.  He comes across as a decent guy, is a great advert for Athletics and the Olympics…and just hope to God he is never outed as a drugs cheat, a la Lance Armstrong.
But,  I didn’t appreciate that his nearest challenger – an American called Gaitlin – had been caught out on drugs offences 3 times previously, but only punished for two.  IIRC, he had been banned for 4 years in 2010.  It might not have been shown in the UK, but a major US network had an interview with Gaitlin before the race: he was given a very easy ride to flatly deny that he had ever taken anything to gain an unfair advantage. 15  Very poor TV reporting.

Anyway, relevance to SFM: what if Gaitlin had won the Olympics 100m final last night ?
The ‘blue-ribbon’ event of global athletics being won by a banned drugs cheat ?
Gaitlin was partially booed on his introduction to the track last night.
If he had beaten Bolt, I think the whole stadium would have booed him.
And how would that have reflected on the Olympic ideal: “…the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.” ”

Some people who had loved the Olympics previously, are now generally disinterested: myself included.
Likewise, some people who loved going to support their Scottish football team have drifted away in disgust at the TRFC / SFA / SPFL cheating.
If cheats are allowed to prosper, then you simply don’t have a sport.
It’s not rocket science.

It Is Better To Offer No Excuse Than A Bad One
Just a wild idea…

But, what if King declared himself bankrupt?
[Well in a court recently, he did claim he was ‘penniless’].

Of course anyone who knows of the glib and shameless one would assume King would have assets hidden, or in his wife’s name – a la wee Bazza?

Would bankruptcy effectively kill off the TOP sanctions?

At this point it seems that King’s reputation is ruined in Scotland – and with the bears and even with the SMSM?

King’s time is up playing charades as ‘the Rangers saviour’, and he must – you would think – be thinking about preserving his remaining wealth as he approaches retirement…?  09

Mibbees after 20 years of failure, the national team and the SFA don’t deserve a dedicated, national stadium?

And Hampden is simply not worth keeping as a football venue for mainly sentimental reasons, IMO.

CO, I think Phil’s scoop about the manner of Nicholl’s appointment deserves a: Wow Just Wow!
It displays how dysfunctional the management structure at Ibrox has become, and you would think, it is a massive red flag.
[Apart from having no cash.]

I also have my fingers and toes crossed that in 2018 my £20 bet on TRFC finishes bottom 6 comes in – with the help of an Admin. event.

[Thanks to fellow Bampots for the tip: interestingly Sky wouldn’t accept a £50 bet for a 150/1 long shot…]

All the best for 2018 Bampots!

And just have to add this headline from the esteemed DR, so it must be true;

“Bluenoses out of joint as Rangers pub to be turned into gay sauna’s bar”

Couldn’t possibly comment on the article…but a couple of sentences did jump out as sounding familiar;

“…Annie Millers was one of Glasgow’s most hardcore Rangers haunts and it was a real shock for a lot of fans when it closed last year.
A lot of drinkers were hoping that someone might rescue the pub so it could reopen as it was before. This definitely won’t happen now…

Guessing it’s quiet as the Bampots have been out watching the footy…or getting dragged around the shops by their better half for the sales ?!

Wife told me last night about the Dembele ‘sale’.
Immediate reaction was that it was nonsense from the SMSM.

There ‘could’ be some truth in it: e.g. an off-the-record tip from either CFC or Dembele’s agent, perhaps to simply instigate a bidding war ?

But, my initial reaction to any big story is to always doubt the SMSM’s veracity: the lamb munchers were exposed a long time ago…and it’s a surprise that the DR in particular is still on sale in hard copy format.

If he is sold for X millions, how will the SMSM / Level42 spin that as ‘bad news’ for CFC…and bad for Scottish football ?  22
