Thanks for the replies. I think it most likely that EJ has called it.

THAT Debate, and the Beauty of Hindsight
Received this link is in an email this morning from my bro-in-law. He highlighted the fact that TRFC are not listed and suggested that this might mean no license to play in uefa competitions ?

Could it be that Daryll Broadfoot is no longer actively defending the SFA and as a consequence their PR is non-existent. It does seem rather strange that the SFA have not issued even a vaguely worded condemnation of all bad things etc.

“I felt a tug on my arm”
Sinclair was fouled in the penalty box. He was pulled back..this is not fair contact in a contact sport it is a deliberate attempt to impede/obstruct prevent the player from scoring. It is true that players today exaggerate the effect of such contact but it doesn`t make that contact legal. It wasn`t shoulder to shoulder or fifty fifty it was a clumsy half retracted attempt to stop the players progress. I felt a touch of sympathy for the referee as he would be criticized either way by the pundits. “Oh..I’ve seen them given”..”He’s missed that one” etc. Once the penalty was given then the red card was inevitable as a goal scoring opportunity was denied by the illegal action of the defender who is getting off far too lightly here. He is no more a professional innocent than Sinclair and the outcome was a diminished spectacle for all viewers.

Enough is enough
Some feelgood reading about football for a change. A reminder of a clubs roots in the community in which it resides and that it should/can be more than just a professional sporting endeavour.

EDIT
“So the idea that we could ‘manipulate’ the Scottish Football industry to make it more equitable is laughable.  It is down to numbers.  Laudable as it may seem it wont work.”

The thing is Jimbo that it takes two to tango. If your partner doesn’t have the bus fare to get to the ballroom then you look pretty silly strutting and dipping on your own. That being said, gateshare will marginally weaken Celtic but not dramatically improve the competitiveness of the SPFL overall. The solidarity payment from Celtic’s progress in Uefa competitions is an indicator of what might be a way forward. It had been mooted in a post in an earlier blog(forgive me for not recollecting and allocating due credit) that the riches gained from CL participation may be distributed as a whole more evenly. The qualifying team(s) benefit and keep all ticket/commercial revenue(outside of TV.. Which is prize money) but ‘donate’ say 50% of prize monies to the domestic league. The arguments against this have been well rehearsed and debated.. Celtic are a plc and have a duty to their shareholders.. Etc. But somehow the business interest/corinthian spirit balance has to be found. (After ten in a row of course.. ahem)

Can’t believe the amount of semi finals Celtic have to play at Hampden on a Sunday once the crap pitch has been dug up on the Saturday.  This time when it would have suited us more we play on the Saturday.  The team won’t get home until the early hours of Thursday morning from Munich and have to play at lunch time Sat.
What rotten luck!!  Or is it  mmmmmmm????????

I have seen this faux complaint over many a year from the likes of  Sir Alex Ferguson, Walter Smith, and others. I am pretty sure supporters of other teams would love to be in such a difficult situation. It is the price of success…get on with it.
