Whilst not underestimating the power or more importantly the perceived power that Celtic and their CEO wield; I believe that perception is a little flawed. For some time now the people who think they are, encouraged by their favourite bloggers, leggo and mcmurdo, have convinced themselves that Peter Lawell is responsible for everything that happens in Scotland and that his agenda is simply to ensure that Celtic remain the top club in the country in perpetuity.
Peter Lawell and Celtic obviously have a vested interest in doing what is best for Celtic. However, it is also important to them that Scottish football is as healthy as possible, or else Celtic’s strength would be diminished and what they dominate would become totally unsustainable in any shape or form. Celtic or any other club in Scotland can only be successful if there is a competition to take part in.
I am hopeful that under the proposed changes in Scottish football, especially coming under one umbrella or governing body, then some of the past anomalies and disjointed decision making can be avoided. It probably would have been advantageous to have had CO removed from office as he will never be a uniting force in our game, but the fault lies with all member clubs not just with the one at the top of the pile.

Newco is simply an abbreviation of New Company, we all know that but the SMSM like to endorse the spin that it is something different. We are supposed to allow them the claim that it is a complicated continuation of the business and that they have simply restructured.
I believe that Green, Whyte and the current dysfunctional board at newco, missed the opportunity to come clean and simply and honestly launch their club as what the rest of us know it to be, a new football club, playing at the same venue as their predecessors. The majority of their fan base, whilst being upset at their loss, would have got behind the new manifestation with the same vigour as before. They would also have been allowed to mourn their loss and not have to expend unnecessary time and energy trying to defend the myth that is being promoted.
We would have welcomed the new club, as they attracted large crowds and attempted to climb up the leagues. There would have been emotional ties to the club that they had once been and we could have accepted the nostalgic association to it. However, what we have now is a campaign by all and sundry to try to convince the rest of us, that the newco have been unfairly punished and that administration followed by liquidation was simply an administrative process that allowed them to cleanse themselves of unwanted debt. If there is an insolvency event at newco, will we all have to accept that it is only part of the same restructuring process?

That this argument will run and run is certain. What is also certain is that regardless of whatever proof is set before them, the people who think they are will remain unconvinced and for that matter unchanged. Small minded and bigoted to the core, they cling to the past, afraid to enter the modern world. If only they could grasp the opportunity that they have and help establish their new club in a way that would allow others to forget their predecessors faults. It is shameful that the people who think they are, refuse to abandon the smug belief that they are entitled to act as they please, unfortunately at great cost to others. Maybe the last chapters of this saga are still to come and the ending will see justice done, we can only hope.

I’m loathe to express sympathy for MW, but he really looked extremely uncomfortable at today’s q&a. The manager of a top flight club being prevented from answering is bad enough but to be effectively dragged from the room, is embarrassing. Maybe a simple press release prepared by JT, will replace future briefings. That it’s not going to end well is inevitable. The people who think they are, have a lot of thinking to do.

Auldheid, Thanks for your reply, I look forward to the day when everything is out in the open and acknowledged by the club, football authorities and msm. However I’m not holdin my breath.

A fair summation if a little speculative. Unfortunately, I agree that there is no appetite amongst the  plc board to do anything but sideline and delay Resolution 12. The requisitioners are no doubt well meaning and passionate about this but made the mistake of getting into bed with the plc. That Celtic are complicit in much that is wrong with Scottish football is no secret but the truth is that the only solution is too drastic to contemplate. The majority of us will continue to moan about cheating and corruption in our game, whilst still turning up or tuning in to watch it.

.. and they wonder why nobody buys papers
Regardless of the how, why or even who refused to carry the ad for the guardian; the result is more talk about res  12 than even the ad being published would have provoked. We can only hope that the can of worms that has been opened, spreads far and wide. However, CFC must come out and openly support the questions being asked by the requisitioners. Only then will football authorities show more than a passing interest. Celtic have kept this issue at the bottom of the pile for too long and appear to have strung the requisitioners along in the hope that their appetite would diminish. This has not and appears unlikely to happen; it is now time to state their intentions fully. Scottish football needs strong leadership, not lies, deceit and prevarication.

Hibs statement appears to be a measured approach. Unlike the sabre rattling attempt to rally the people who think they are. Sevco have their season ticket sales drive in full flow and are happy to have something that deflects from their inept performance on the day.
