One of the problems TRFC have is that everyone and their dug know who their target signings are and when it falls through they are left with egg on their faces.  I don’t know how this becomes common knowledge in the first place.  Is it the club itself? leaks to press?

I can’t comment on other clubs but so far as Celtic are concerned they make serious efforts to do their transfer dealing under the radar.  Loads of speculation in the media of course but mostly rubbish.  Of course you can’t hide when a player comes in for a trial but Celtic’s stock reply is ‘we are just having a look’.  And sometimes agents will put it about that Celtic are interested to hype it up to other interested clubs.

But I couldn’t tell you the amount of times players are sprung on us and I have to immediately google him to get some info.

Seems to me that too much PR spin to appease the fans and make the club appear to be richer than they are is not a good thing.

It’s being reported today they are interested in a NI player (Evans) currently at Blackburn.  Reputedly on £18k per week.  Honestly you couldn’t make it up.  What’s the chances of them landing a player on those wages (if true!). 21

The silence from Hampden tonight is deafening.  This news broke at about 4pm.  I am surprised it has taken Hamilton 5 days to make this announcement.  There has to be story there.

But the organisers of this competition are the SFA.  Why have they not come out with a credible explanation in 3 and a half hours?   Maybe it takes longer than that to create an excuse which covers them in glory?

Really pathetic.

I recommend Lord Nimmo Smith to look into this fiasco.

Well that’s put the cat amongst the budgies.   Can’t wait to hear what Regan has to say. Banned from the cup next season?

Wow, Hamilton refuse to host the EK V Celtic match!

Dom16,  Was thinking about Christmas decorations today.  I took mine down.  Most neighbours have done the same.  Nowadays with the huge build up to Christmas from November we are ready to put it behind earlier than in the past.  It used to be customary to keep decorations up until 5 Jan. ‘Epiphany Eve’ or ‘twelfth night’.  It’s good to see them go up but good to see them put away for another year!
(Merry Christmas).

Historical / hysterical January transfers:
Jean-Alain Boumsong (Rangers to Newcastle £8m, 2005)
This was a strange signing on many levels, with Newcastle paying Rangers £8m for Boumsong’s services just a few months after he’d been available on a free.

The Newcastle manager?  G. Souness! 21

(Think he received an EBT after it)

Just dawned on me it might be easier to just disable the thumb down button rather than introducing a LIKE button.

The thumbs down misuse mystifies me.  It happens often.  I wish we had a simple LIKE button with no dislike option.  You either vote for a post in a positive way or scroll past.  I know it would sacrifice the option of registering a strong disagreement in points of principle, but worth it I think.

It would take away the perverse satisfaction of these trolls.  Besides, our great posters are very able to counter any dubious posts with logical counter arguments. (Which can then be LIKED)
