Morning;

Any background on the King of Castlemilk as to where he earned his wealth……I read that he worked with Weirs of Cathcart.

Also read (don’t ask me where) that he was a CA…..makes you wonder what his training was that he was posted to SA.

Paddy T….like you I read that he did indeed work at Weirs of Cathcart.

However, I would love to know where you read that he was a CA…he is certainly not registered as a member of ICAS since I have just spent some time checking online…however the most prominent South African accountancy qualification also carries the designatory “CA” letters…but I have no way of checking their membership records online.
PS…shudder the thought of yet another CA involved in this financial omnishambles… 😯 😯 😯 😯 😯

Dave states the following in the article………..

‘Rangers as a football club can afford the loans from anyone else.

‘With the asset base it has got and the fanbase, if we get them all back into the club, a £5m or £10m debt is very, very affordable for Rangers.

‘When I was on the board previously, we had £35m of bank debt and potentially £50m of HMRC debt. So £10m is not a catastrophic number.

…and with not the slightest intention of even considering paying it back…!

…and this with at least two CAs on the board at that time…with one of them now seeking election as a director of the successor/phoenix “clumpany”…in addition to acting as caretaker chairman to a convicted tax evader…!

…is it me?

Resin_lab_dog…may I repeat the question I asked of Easy Jambo some many months ago:

Where were you guys when I was studying for my CA finals…?

Based on your info and incisive posts, not to mention the other contributors to this glorious blog, I would have won the Institute’s Gold Medal (I think!)… 😀

Many thanks for your contributions!

The question might be “What could they do?”. The answer is “They could have made public the activities of Mr Craig Whyte of which they were aware or ought to have been aware”. Their fiduciary duties owed to the company might for example have led them to disclose to the PLUS Stock Exchange that no accounts were likely or that no AGM was likely to be held on account of the conduct of Mr Craig Whyte and that there was a complete breakdown of the corporate governance of Rangers FC.

HP…this was part of the overall options available to Mr King, which he appears to have chosen not to exercise.

In a similar vein to the previous scenario under David Murray, Messrs Johnston and Murray (Paul) chose to maintain their vow of “Omerta” and do nothing….!

Since both are members of ICAS, there are specific guidelines as to their obligations and duties as directors when they found themselves as directors under David Murray’s financial recklessness…but the status of their directorships appears to have blinded them as to these duties.

In my opinion.

StevieBCDecember 22, 2017 at 18:29Guess that the CoS result could /should trigger a couple of events in the short-term;– King resigns from RIFC & – the auditors Campbell Dallas ‘do walking away’ ?You would think…?  +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Their reputation is on the line. I would think ICAS practice regulation are keeping a close watch on this one._______________________________________________________
ICAS Practice Regulation only get upset when recalcitrant, (no, not “concomitant”) members, like me, fail to return meaningless checklists or forms in time.
Please believe me…I have “got form” in this area…. 01
Only when a serious complaint from “members of the public” is received, would any notice be taken…and minimum action result…
Please remember, that ICAS members, at least 20 in number, have been involved in this whole RFC/MIH/TRFC/TRIFC omnishambles over the last 20 years or so….and….yup…a big fat zilch from the “public”…
I rest my case….

Delighted to see that you are all the others are still banging away at the shame that masquerades as governance in Scottish football…

THAT Debate, and the Beauty of Hindsight
Saddened to see yet another fellow CA, instrumental in the whole MIH/RFC tax planning, aka tax avoidance/evasion/EBT scenario, squirming in court under cross examination. Just how many CAs have been involved in helping David Murray carry out his destruction of Scottish Football and his own publicly quoted business, but still leaving him a millionaire, relatively unscathed by his own misdeeds, for which he was ennobled? 1111

THAT Debate, and the Beauty of Hindsight
Good morning all…haven’t posted a comment for a few months…has anything happened.?..especially in the RIFC omnishambles 151515…?
