Make our Mind Up Time

I have been receiving quite a bit of  unflattering mail about the “agenda” being pursued on this blog. Depending on the correspondent, that is defined as  either denying people their civil right to gloat, hiding the “truth” that people of the RC faith are welcomed and encouraged to come to Ibrox, or indulging in Chamberlain-style appeasement with the banning of the “H” word and other incontrovertible rights-to-insult.

The objection to moderation of any sort appears to be at the root of these diatribes. Our position here in terms of moderation is clear. There is no “agenda” other than a desire not to be chasing up posts containing the rantings and ravings of partisan types who “demand” their right to be heard no matter how objectionable it might be to those hear it. We are not here to service a conduit for conspiracy theories based in Masonic Lodges or the Vatican. There are plenty of places where people can indulge in that kind of stuff, but the moderators here are just not interested. The administration of the site takes around four hours per day. That’s a long time trawling through posts which often set out deliberately to insult, abuse or otherwise cause offence – mildly or otherwise.

Our view is that the blog will only have cross-club support if we stick to what we can substantiate by fact or reasonably infer from the way things proceed. Further, we feel that if we are to gain credibility as an alternative source of news and comment to the MSM, that we need to cut down on the fansite type comments. There is no dignity (a word often used here) in calling the Rangers manager or their fans names. We need to maintain higher standards of impartiality than football fansites, because we know that a united fan base can actually make a difference as RTC did when the SPL chairmen were gearing up for a parachute for the new Rangers. OT discussions are fine, and often amusing, but they shouldn’t become the main reason to come here.

The requirement to have a WordPress account before posting here is not in any way draconian. It is designed to make people accountable for what they post whilst still maintaining anonymity, and therefore being exempt from moderation. Those who don’t like it are not being compelled to carry out any instruction – they only need go to a place where they don’t feel so constrained.

If the main issue of this blog becomes how the blog is being administered – or how the moderation policy is affecting the human rights of posters, we may as well just pack up now.

There have never been any objections to the suggested posting rules on here. We assume that people who post are reasonably intelligent. Therefore it seems fair to assume that those who have ignored the suggested posting rules did so deliberately. If that doesn’t happen, moderation is just not required.

If what we are trying to do fails because of our posting framework, then we will be blamed. We are certain though, that we can have no credibility if we indulge ourselves in conspiracy theories and constant references to anachronistic organisations, the Scottish school system, and the leanings of referees.

There is real corruption in Scottish football. It is based not on religious rivalries but on greed and acquisitiveness. The only thing that matters is that we identify that corruption and help put an end to it.

Our job is to ask questions and not jump to our own conclusions about the answers. That will divide us as surely as the realisation of the depth of the corruption united us. To be totally united as fans, we need to have more Rangers fans on here. Therefore we need to create an atmosphere that they can be comfortable with. Is that the case right now? The anger for RFC’s mismanagement and abuse of the game in Scotland is real, but we need to look forward if we are truly committed to ensuring that what happened to Rangers can’t happen again.

We’re not gonna throw the toys out of the pram here. If anyone else would like to run the blog under those circumstances of zero moderation, we will be happy to hand over the domain. There is no “agenda” – we will be happy to hand the work over to others.

The initial posting which proposed the change to WordPress logins received over 130 TUs and only three TDs. Subsequently the post advising of the changes got around 100 TUs and 100 TDs. It seems that minds are not entirely made up.

To get some closure on this once and for all, we have added a poll below to end on Saturday at 1700 where you can decide whether you want to go along with our original plan in terms of login and moderation. We obviously recommend that you vote “Yes”

    From RTC’s twitter

The facts are there, but Scottish MSM will not break their golden rule: do not alienate teaming masses of RFC/Sevco fans

It will not be long until events pass the media by. Remember well what they have done and what they have refused to say. Good night.

OG, on another site, actually said, “the week after next.”

He was criticized eventually for ‘baiting’ the blog and not coming out with the actual info. Others stepped in and stated that OG can be trusted, he’s always right.

Similar happened on here with the so called ‘nuclear’ info. I prefer to get my info from Astrid up the Precinct.

  15. A week is a long time in politics, somebody famous once said. But not as long as 48 hours in Scottish Football. Why announce a statement 48 hours in advance, and then not deliver? Surely this can’t be related to “October 11th” that’s been touched on here and on various RFC sites a few weeks ago. That eejit Leggo also referred to it on 10 August 2012. Naw, it can’t be, he was talking about good news for RFC!

    http://leggoland2.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/mccoist-hero-for-rangers-workers.html

Leggo: “OCTOBER 11th is set to be a red-white and blue-letter-day.

For the moment, you will have to be content with that information. But here’s a wee tip. Make a note in your diary.

It will be good news for those who value the history of Rangers.”

    ============================

I think the “loan defence” is another myth.

As far as I understand it Rangers made payments into sub-trusts. Once that was done Rangers had no say in what happened to the money. Indeed they had no say in what happened to it before then (on the assumption the money was being paid in). Rangers could not make loans to players via an EBT because there is simply no mechanism for doing it. It would have precluded them being EBTs (in fact it did).

The trustees of the EBT’s provided the loans, not Rangers, Rangers made payments.

On that basis, repaying the loans is not only a non-starter it wouldn’t actually change anything. They would repay the money, into a sub-trust, which was being held for their own benefit. They could simply wait a while and re-apply for another loan.

  32. In the week that i witnessed a pretty spectacular meteor shower it seems like the planets are aligning. As we wait expectantly, take a moment to ponder what has been achieved here.

A little over 18 months ago a reluctant hero decided to create an internet vehicle to share information that he/she knew to be true, and was frustrated by the lack of investigation and reporting. In a vast cyberspace, a blog appeared. Rangerstaxcase was born and quickly attracted a small following, the difference being this blog had a massive story, massive latent appeal, was factual, and due to the complex content, it attracted an intelligentia unseen in other blogs. The level of debate was high, conducted respectfully, and laid out in language that was easily understood. Fascinating tax procedure and dynamic legal debate are not instantly recognisable crowd pleasers but the blog quickly spread through word of mouth through the football forums and on into everyday life. Workplaces buzzed, pubs chattered, old wifies in the street were talking, rangers had ran a tax scheme called EBT and used this fund to pay players money that should rightfully been taxed, to cover this from HMRC they furnished players with two contracts and therfore broke football rules for over a decade in what appears to be a deliberate act. With the help of rfc officials in the corridors of power the scam went unnoticed. The scottish media, long time since under the murray spell continued to act as a pr outlet and ignored any negative story in favour of succulent lamb puff pieces.

Undeterred, the blog continued to be first with the truth as the club brought us into the world of googly eyed shysters. Despite media fawning RTC and his growing band pulled apart the lies and produced astonishing facts that would earn terrible journalists worthless awards months later, an Orwell prize paling it into insignificance. The long predicted administration day arrived and proceeded to surprise even the most learned on the blog with amazing new concepts of company rescue. HMRC proved a bridge to far and liquidated the club, but wait, a cheap suit beat the even cheaper suits and in the administration-liquidation purgatory, put some lipstick and knickers on the pig and took it on a date and hoped for the best.

So we are where we are, the judgements from all sides are due soon and we hope to see justice across the board, nothings ever certain but i think we all know the odds are in our favour. If we lose the result, i expect a tidal wave of facts will flood the masses as the ones we trust release the dam. Its been a pleasure to read your comments, ive learned a lot, ive laughed a lot and ive disagreed with a lot but by and large the respect has remained constant. We moved on into a newco and we will proceed under new guidance and with fresh agendas, but no matter what happens now, you guys have achieved a massive amount and changed the game of football in scotland forever, and proved that new media will be hugely influential in the future. Me, ive just cracked a few jokes and they have been 99% crap.

    Thanks to everyone.

    Your a legend RTC.

At some point you would expect the “RFCG hold a £27.5M floating charge over the Ibrox and MP assets of RFC (I.A.)” to appear on the scottish land registry – all of the heritable assets of RFC currently undergoing registration, I would guess?

And, eh, hello. Finally transferred over, now that there seems to be slightly less derogatorily terms being used for RFC fans being employed on the new WP site.

Well put, rab, and with feeling.

‘Fair do’s under the rules’ has been the simple cry from most of us.

That, and a greater appreciation by the Football authorities that the paying fans are their financial life-blood, and not only demand to be taken seriously but have to be taken seriously.

One certain outcome of this whole regrettable affair is that the football companies and the football associations of companies will never be quite as dismissive of their paying customers as they have traditionally been.

They will , like the supermarkets and car dealerships and other major businesses, learn that they cannot take their market share for granted.

Why would the European Clubs Assoc be investigating the status of Sevco/Rangers’ membership of that top flight body? Hmmmm
    ===========================================================================

Could it be that while I didn’t receive a reply, myself and a few others on here e-mailed the ECA at their ‘info’ address asking them to explain what Green was doing there and who he was representing.

I also posted that perhaps someone with genuine journalistic credentials may like to make contact as they could have more luck in getting answers from the ECA as opposed to Joe Public.

Like a goal in that goes in of your heel when you are facing the other way I’ll happily take some of the credit but frankly its just good to know that the issue may actually be on the ECA radar for a quick investigation.

    ===========================================================================
    Sent 11 September

    Sir/ Madam
I understand from media reports that a Mr Charles Green attended the ECA meeting on 10 &11 September 2012.

Can you confirm that Mr Charles Green attended the meeting?

If Yes, then can you confirm which club from the 135 present he represented?

If No, then was there anyone else allowed to represent a team from Scotland under the name of Glasgow Rangers FC? If Yes, then who?

As you may be aware Mr Charles Green is the Chief Executive of The Rangers Football Club Limited who play in the Scottish Division Three and, being a new club formed only a few months ago, they are currently unable to compete in future European competitions until they have submitted three years of audited accounts.

The club that was offered membership of ECA in 2010 was The Rangers Football Club Plc. This club is now in administration and has been since 14 February 2012. Therefore, despite being placed second in the Scottish Premier League 20/11/2012, under Uefa rules the club are not currently allowed to play in European competitions.

Could you provide an answer to which one of the above clubs currently holds the ECA membership?

If it is The Rangers Football Club Limited then how did the ECA membership transfer from the old club to the new club when they are different legal entities?

If the membership is held by The Rangers Football Club Plc (In Administration) and Mr Charles Green or his representatives attended the ECA meeting, do you feel that this was appropriate as they represent a new and different club that is a separate legal entity?

    Yours

  46. Given all the chat last night about floating charges and possible sale / renting out of stadium I am wondering if there is a connection in relation to the Edmiston House/SDM deal (in principle).

Maybe SDM should watch that he is not being duped again!

Owning Edmiston House increases the ‘floor plate’ and control of the overall Ibrox site and removes a potential pesky and near neighbour who may still have the time money and influence to raise objections to any plans for the Ibrox site. Despite running the club into the ground I am sure SDM would still have something to say if there were any proposals to knock the place down.

Neighbours in the tenaments can be dealt with more easily and the rest of the surround landuse is commercial/industrial and the owners are less likely to put up any objections.

Gaining ownership of Edmiston House would certainly make the site that bit more attractive.

    Just saying likes…………

I think that its more likely that news of the FTTT decision having been issued to MIH and HMRC will be the first that we hear. The MoJ previously reported that the intention was that the judge would make the decision available to the parties (MIH / HMRC) in September.

7 – 10 days later (if my memory is correct) the result will be published and made available to the public. That may explain the media speculation over an October release.

The MoJ also acknowledged (in a FOI response) that neither of the parties had moved to prevent the release of the decision into the public domain. If the decision is published in a restrictive way – this could suggest that a party other than HMRC / MIH is seeking to protect some of the information. Could that suggest a criminal investigation? Or as others have said where hearings are held in private some of the details are redacted to protect the privacy of the people involved.

http://www.bailii.org/uk/cases/UKFTT/TC is another legal publication service where the FTTT decision will appear.

It may also appear on commercial legal information services such as WestLaw and LexisNexis.

If CW holds the floating charge, then a SEVCO share issue means that fans will be paying CW to go away?

How can Duff and Duffer (copyright acknowledged) arrange for a sale of the assets of RFC(IA) – noting that CW is no longer an issue, where his company continues to hold the floating charge?

Is there anything illegal going on if this scenario is correct?

  51. Question

Who would buy ibrox stadium and who would lease it back?

Personally I don’t get this unless someone can explain the tax and savings benefits and as for it being sold off for development as some have claimed, it will never happen.

  52. What a shock on awakening- no SFA statement yet! But it’s Friday today, and 5pm Friday is the very best time to issue bad news, at least that’s what they teach on MBA courses.

A fascinating crop of TD’s overnight. I suppose it makes certain peepil feel better, and since very few of them can construct any sort of cogent argument to post, there isn’t much else they can do to vent their rage.

It’s nice to know they’re watching, though, so here’s a message for them- we feel your pain, it is almost tangible. But you really do need to identify the true source of all your misfortune. Try Sir David Murray for starters- get angry with him.

  54. So TRFC’s hero and it’s erstwhile sugar daddy have been meeting up for a cosy little chat. Now could this be the same sugar daddy who was about to suffer possibly the greatest embarassment of his career by having the eponymous Murray Park suddenly transformed into the Moses McNeil/Davie Cooper centre of excellence?

Could this be the same hero who publicly lambasted the sugar daddy for his gross mismanagement of the club.

Why would these two now be even sharing the same room?

In Ally speak “we demand to know”

There is not just bad news on the horizon, there is M&S bad news. 😀

I agree that it is unlikley that it will be sold on for development while there is still a football capable of play there.

However in relaton to sale and lease back Mr Charles has said he is not in this for the long game in the same way Craig Whyte wasn’t.

If these guys can somehow retain control of the stadium and let some other suckers take over the football club they have an annual income stream and an asset in terms of a large site, which if the football team does fail, could be developed.

Brian Kennedy worked this type of flanker at Stockport County, although by the report the site doesn’t appear to be too attractive for redevelopment.

“The rent has been deferred not waived big difference
Rangers had a lucky escape from Brian Kennedy he has ruined Stockport county”

  56. @czm3 @alextomo Any indication of the decision will be published in full or are we headed for redaction-ville?

    6m alex thomson ‏@alextomo
@czm3 hm – unclear. They usually publish detailed decisions and reasons. With appropriate support they can often be rendered into English.

It will be interesting to see if the FTTT decision re MIH/RFC is published outwith the norm.

  57. For the benefit of any thumbs-downers who may be starting to wake up after last night’s epic cyber assault, can I point out that this is post number 1,888 …

    😀

  58. I wonder if DR editor @AllanRennie1 will regret entering into RTC’s timeline last night.
He’s presently being reeled in by RTC tweeting a few juicy facts to see if he bites.
Let’s hope he takes the bait, it would be great to see him try to squirm his way off the Hook
that is currently being dangled by RTC.

  59. Agrajag

I find it interesting that you use the word “infiltrated”, with the connotations that word involves. That there is something furtive or underhanded involved.

Are you suggesting that the people concerned are not entitled to these positions, and that somehow they have managed to achieve posts they are not entitled to or should not rightfully be in.

Nothing if the sort. Thought it was an amusing and ironic word to use. Almost used italics when typing it originally.

But maybe it’s not appropriate to joke about such things on here.

  60. For those of you that do not tweet

    Allan Rennie ‏@AllanRennie1
    @rangerstaxcase http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/rangers-director-dave-king-hit-1094990

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 Oh good. A ball of twine! Are you seriously trying to defend the Daily Record’s reporting of RFC’s troubles?

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@Paulmcc12 Remember Scottish media telling us that Dave King would buy Rangers? In truth, he could not legally buy a car in the UK.

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 Court orders against King have been in place since 31 May 2006 i.e. All stories after this about King buying RFC were rubbish

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 The Daily Record + Traynor on Radio Scotland, pushed the Dave King consortium to buy RFC story hard in October 2010! Why?

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 In fact, the Record/Traynor pushed the Dave King rescue many times- as did DJ & most radio call-in show experts.

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 The Scottish MSM did this after 31 May 2006, so it was in fact impossible for King to buy a car in the UK let alone Rangers

    more to follow……;-)

Stevi BC@ 20.58. (edit) I still think that as the whole RFC/Sevco debacle has been rumbling along for so long now, it would be increasingly difficult to contain all the incriminating evidence to just a select few individuals. Surely someone has been asked to photocopy something, overhead a conversation, obtained a ‘blind copy’ of an email etc….
    ======================
Stevie,I think that has already been happening,Thomson said on more than one occasion that ‘his contact at SFA’ told him this or that. Also if you remember when LNS went in to investigate Whyte about ‘fit and proper’ the news came out about Bain and his affair with the shredder,Ogilvie’s letter appeared stating the duties of a non executive director (got a laugh reading that.)So there has been a trickle, not a flood, but I think there will be a lot more as the realization hits that heads are going to roll. There wont be a lot of room left in the lifeboat.

If there is a conspiracy and there are leaks, I’d expect much more profound info than that.

It seems that disclosure of already known things has to be dragged out of most journalists at the point where it was going to be public knowledge anyway. How much of the Rangers thing has not already been know to most journalists?

I don’t get the impression that journos don’t know what has been going on, on the whole, it’s just that they haven’t published.

  63. Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 The Record claimed that a D King bid was rejected by the bank! http://bit.ly/SH3d5V . Conveniently turning fans fury on bank!

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 Seriously, as a 1 issue blogger, I have never claimed to be the answer to the media problem, but Scottish MSM is a disgrace.

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 I know the truth of just 1 story, but the Scottish MSM will not print truth for fear of offending large no. of readers.

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 If you will not print the truth in the biggest Scottish story of modern times, why should we believe you on anything?

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
@AllanRennie1 That is the central problem. Why should we not suspect an agenda behind everything you print?

    Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase
The facts are there, but Scottish MSM will not break their golden rule: do not alienate teaming masses of RFC/Sevco fans…

good job I’ve the day off..could get interesting….will keep you posted 😉

  64. ranchofranco @ 10:12,

I don’t think allanrennie(spouts a load of no)1 will last the day without resorting to the humble sports journalist defence.

  65. If Rennie vs RTC was a boxing match they’d be screaming for the ref to end it now. I’ve saved this as a sterling example of The Peter Principle.

  66. Night Terror @
I was not saying that the info I Remember was profound, there were many more wee leaks,RTC/Barcabhoy were getting info, from where i dont know. I agree that the press know a lot more than they have published, only they know the Real reasons for their behaviour. This story is about to gather even more pace and I dont think that there is one person working in the media industry in Scotland willing or able to keep up.
You mentioned conspiracy,I said corruption, you dont think it exists,I do.It has become so casually endemic in this country that it has taken the biggest sporting story EVER in Scotland to show the people how bad it really is.If Rangers(IA)/Sevco are not hammered for what they have done it will just prove my point. Please dont give me the ‘innocent until proven guilty’.They are guilty, you know it I know it,we all know it.
