  1. I wonder how long it will be before the offspring of Rosemary’s baby will organise mass protest’s outside any shop who dare to sell Phill’s book.
    These cretin’s will not have a bad word said about anyone connected to dead club.
    I really hope that charlie bleeds them for every penny possible before he heads off back down south.

  2. Went into my wateringhole for a small refreshment after work as of a day ,beer on the counter ,the barman comes round as he does and asks if I want a look at the days paper’s offers in order ,herald ,sun & record ,I thanked him but said no ,I then went on to say what the blog had said regards the sun,he went back to the rack and found the story on the edits page and said the sun should be commended ,one for advertising the book and two bringing the paper back as the low life it is ,are the sons of 25 years ago working for the firm ,not a bad question as the press are instituitionalised,just ask Shug Keevins,Shug has been starved out of Ibrox for years ,next question , have Jabba and co already been at Charlie’s top table ,if not comming to a table near you soon only its succulent pig Charlie’s boys are into ,fact.

    ‘ HMRC will get nothing – no matter what happens with BDO..’
    ————–
    I concede that under the terms of the liquidation, HMRC are likely to get nothing, no matter how diligently BDO may hunt around for assets.

    But I would not entirely write off the possibility of HMRC taking CG at his stated words that the’club’ never died, that the guilty rangers are still there, happily paying (some) of their little footballing debts to lay claim to membership of nthe SFA as the same Rangers , and really try to nail them as being liable for RFC’s BTC debt, citing the SFA’s own actions as evidence.

    Now that would really be something: one lot of baddies being used to screw the other lot of baddies.

    No worries-that is a nailed-on certainty. Green has got their measure now, all right, and he will squeeze the lemon for every drop, having seen what a bunch of gullible mugs they really are. And all the while, the MSM will praise him to high heavens as a saviour- until, surprise, surprise, it all goes pop. An uncanny re-run of the Craig Whyte story. Or is it in reality simply the Craig Whyte story, part 2? Or the Sir David Murray story, part 3?

    Re the supposed comment that a Celtic player was happy about the Cup Draw, but had hoped to meet RFCIASTBL, I believe the player in question was Joe Ledley – who stated that he felt most Celtic FANS would have preferred to have drawn them.

    In that respect, I think he’s right – for obvious reasons… a ‘gubbin’!

    Honestly, a book could be written about MSM inaccuracies, never mind their prejudices and hidden agendas (which, by the way, are now becoming not so hidden!)

    Turns out he’s on more of these podcasts. On the third link podcast (previous page) he is rather critical of a small minority of Celtic fans who sing certain songs among other things. So he seems not to be your blinkered fan. Not sure how or why The Sun has suddenly backtracked though. This is a pretty strong statement.

    “But because the author — previously unbeknown to us — is tarred with a sickening sectarian brush.”

    Anyway, a newer pod from The Away End in June 2012 includes a longer telephone interview with him too. Fascinating stuff.

    I went to my local Waterstones down here in Englandshire to order Phil’s book. ‘That’s odd’ says the guy, consulting his computer,’ it’s down here as being published on the 1st, but not being printed, never seen that before, I’ll order it and see what happens but I can’t guarantee anything.’ They normally take payment in full for orders but he didn’t from me because they’re unsure if it’ll arrive. Can I be the first to postulate a conspiracy theory? I’ll keep you updated with developments, someone else might like to try their own bookshop.

    ============================================================================

    Martin…I ordered my copy about a fortnight (?) ago as soon as I had advance notice of its publication.

    I got the same comment from the bookshop owner (a lovely lass from Fort William!)

    Conspiracy theories I tend to avoid but…

I was absolutely amazed that the young man I spoke to in the relevant department told me no one had been appointed by HMRC for the newco/oldco situation and he could make no further comment on the situation.

  21. There is a part of me that thinks….did Phil associate with the Sun…in the knowledge that the reaction is what he wanted….he could not have bought that publicity if the aim was to sell more copies…

  22. Webster

    Thank you for your response.

    I have to admit, that particular day’s blog (The Incubator) made uncomfortable reading.

    My admiration for Phil doesn’t stem from his writing style or a belief that he has great insight. He was handed info about Oldco, after all. But he did go and ask questions. And he wrote it all down.

    Then the very real threats started. He has endured. (You’re The Dude, Phil.)

    Two words which will have been in the man’s head most days of the week, for the last four years, would have been ‘Veronica Guerin.’

    So many people in all of this have walked by on the other side, Phil hasn’t.

    Webster, the test must surely be whether IN THE BOOK IN QUESTION, which was already accepted for serialisation,there is any ‘offensive sectarianism’, not whether the author may have written something else that might be considered sectarian.

    The ‘Sun’, aye ready to have a go at soft targets, has disgracefully s.hat itself when serious words were menacingly whispered in editorial ears. A clue that as to the audience for its statement is to be found in the use of the nice wee trigger word ‘loyal’!!!

    We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two Institutions, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Scotland.”

    Night Terror

    I wont clog up the blog with links but I’ve looked back and there are plenty newspaper articles claiming Craig Whyte “fought” HMRC for the right to appoint their own administrators. One of the reasons given was that Whyte had ‘previous’ with Duff and Duffers.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I believe it was a Mr. Paul Murray of the Baron Knights group that stated on a news night interview way back…that the only time he ever saw Craigy with a face of shear panic was when ththe judge suggested HMRC should appoint an administrator…..alas Craigy’s legal team argued they should be allowed to appoint and the Judge with HMRC’S approval allowed that to take place..
  26. I like a lot on this site have been disheartened at various times throughout this disgraceful episode in scottish football.
    Disheartened by the corruption being openly displayed by the guardian’s of our game.
    Disheartened by the support given to the mafia family formerly known as rfc
    Disheartened by the way the msm ignored and buried this story and are still guilty of not doing thier jobs on how dead club are still playing football when they should not be
    Disheartened by how Fat boy and Tetley tea folk man have been allowed to say what they want and get away with it
    But the thing that keeps my spirit’s up is that for all they would have us believe they are loving life in the 4th tier of scottish football i know and they know that is a load of horse s**t.They are hurting bad and are in a lot of pain over this but this pain is nothing compared to the total devastation they will feel when they find out that TTFM is telling them what they want to hear and couldn’t care less about them or thier club .They believe that TTFM is going to spend his way to the spl and when they get there he is going to unlock the famous warchest.I said it before “Never in the game of football have so many been fooled by so few”.Everyone of them deserve it
  27. Well, I’ve stopped buying the sun as of today. I admit, I’ve been buying it for the last 18 months, but that’s only because they were cheaper than the DR, and needed to know what was on the telly ! (30p for a long time, but have recently sneaked it up to 40p).
    As a non-Old Firm fan (in the days there was an Old Firm !, pun intended), I found their coverage of the lower divisions a lot better than their DR rivals.
    The Celtic vs Oldco thing always had priority, and that was accepted by most of us diddy team fan’s, as it was a newspaper trying to sell copies to the majority. I did feel, however, that they gave The Diddy Teams a fair shout as well.
    Not any more though !
    There’s been a big change in “Our” Media since Oldco started going through their tribulations last Valentine’s Day, consequently going bust ! It is a sinister change in my opinion.
    What I can’t understand is that Scottish Football seems to be doing OK since the start of the season. Celtic are through to the Group Stages in Europe, Hearts and Motherwell put up gallant performances as well.
    Yet, a newly formed club starting life in The 3rd Div seem to be taking up a lot of the headlines in the sun rag !
    I think I’ll just stick to the local weekly rag from now on.
    My daily 40p might not make a big dent in Mr Murdoch’s Bank Balance, but it sure will clear my conscience over their Hillsborough scandal. When I think about it, I’m quite ashamed I ever bought one copy of that rag, and their now defunct NOW Sunday comic. I also hope that all those charged with phone hacking get their just desserts !
    Newspapers are on the way out, so I suppose they resort to desperate measures. After all, their main news today is also todays “Chip Paper” in today’s modern world !
    It’s no wonder we see many “Journalist’s” trying to edge their way into Radio & TV. It’s their last salvation, Rat’s trying to leave a sinking ship ! The game’s almost over, but they have to earn a living to pay the Mortgage.
    Unfortunateley, when they transfer/ moonlight / etc on Radio/ TV, they also bring along their biased views from their “Day” jobs.
    It gets quite pathetic watching these so called “Journalist’s” going about their daily business.
    Not a bad job travelling the world, living on Succulent Lamb and fine Wine, and even having the opportunity to claim it all back on expenses !!!!
    Lubbly Jubbly !
    Well done, ditch the daily rags.
    You can get your telly info from weekly guides for 50p!
    Also info available from the Radio Times online!
    You’re right too about the imposters calling themselves journalists, and it does beg the questions about editorial, proprietal, and political leverage. As ever.
    We know we don’t have a free and neutral press, but it shouldn’t be as bad as its getting to be.
  32. If the Sun want to pander to thugs they need to be boycotted. Why would supporters of any football team want to read that paper now? Especially with what is going on with Scottish football right now.The Sun has made it perfectly clear that one club is different and will receive preferential treatment. The reason for this is simply fear.
  33. I think, given the day’s events wrt to the Sun, that the old Rangers DNA – entitlement, supremacy, intimidation, is alive and well with the new mob.
    So Stuart Dougal is quite right!
    One outcome of this is that the editorial team of The Sun are evidently now fully aware of the salient points contained in Phil’s book – i.e. the FACTS of the matter. The piece must have been prepared for press, if not laid out and subbed to fit. It will therefore have been condensed into sub-3-syllable words, with appropriate screaming headlines etc.
    —————————————————————————————–
    That wouldn’t be hard to do, as it would probably have been written in single line sentences like his blog, for the benefit of his sycophantic readership.
  36. If I may ask a question slightly off topic, Is there no daily Newspaper in Scotland that does not toe this party line?
    I know that in the North of Ireland for instance, there is a variety of publications that reflect differing readerships and cater for different sporting priorities. Just asking.
    Captain Haddock,
    Thank you Sir, that’s exactly what I’m trying to say.
    It seems to me, in my humble opinion, that there is a concerted effort on behalf of the (I hate to call them MSM !) Weasels who report on “Our” National Sport that the new club in the 3rd Div is the same as the old club who have disgraced “Our” National Sport !
    They are nothing more than Freeloaders, easy money !
    In fact, I will use the MSM tag, in the words of George Galloway in his prime, The MSM could best be described as a “lickspittle Republican committee” that was engaged in creating “the mother of all smokescreens”. Kind of sums them up ?
  38. Craig Whyte said Rangers were going into administration within a couple of weeks.
    HMRC petitioned the Court of Session the next day to appoint an administrator immediately.
    Craig Whytes lawyer put forward a counter proposal that Whye be allowed to appoint an administrator.
    The Judge asked if HMRC would accept that
    They replied that they would on two conditions. That it happened that day and that Rangers paid their legal costs.
    This was agreed and Duff and Phelps were appointed.
    HMRC simply wanted the administration to start immediately and they forced the situation.
    That is all.
  39. Apologies in advance to any genuine RFC fans who read this post
    But
    On those infrequent occasions like tonight when I listen to SSB and hear ex RFC fans commenting on whatever………..
    I am repeatedly struck by the poor quality of their understanding of the world we live in
    Many callers don`t seem to understand the differences between capitalism and socialism, what business objectives are all about ,what civil and Goverment institutions are supposed to uphold , what the political process is intended to do, what spoting integrity means,why football has a governing body why HMRC must enforce tax laws etc etc etc
    I have to say
    The last time I heard this sort of uninformed comment was over 40 yrs ago when people speculated in the pub.They talked endlessly about why Upper Clyde Shipbuilders deserved to exist despite gobbling large chunks of taxpayers money at a time when the country was hobbling through a recession
    Perhaps my experience was unique and distorted
    If it wasn`t maybe we need some sort of socio economic study of the differences between Sevco fan and the rest of us
    I do not intend this as a snobby insult to our dear friends who represent the decent RFC fans we all know
    Its just a nagging observation that keeps recurring
    Somebody
    tell me I am wrong
  43. One more thing before Zebedee send’s me to bed !
    I’ve been trying to get my head around all this saga. How exactly did the new Yorkshire Owner of Ibrox Park, Murray Park and The famous Car Park manage to buy that lot for 5.5 M ? I couldn’t even have done that in Monopoly !
    Something definately stinks !, and it ain’t that rotten fish Gazza hid in someone’s boot !
    There must be a Paper Trail somewhere which crosses the t’s and dot’s the i’s ?
    Or, is that asking too much ?
  44. Not so sure Phil Mac’s book is the one that really matters? He, and his work, were always going to be an easy target to shoot down simply because he doesn’t hide his allegiances.
    Let’s face it, for some it’s a win-win situation – no doubt Phil Mac’s book has been given priceless PR and (for many) a sharp drop in newspaper sales (any paper) simply accelerates the demise of what is now widely established as a failed and supplicant Scottish MSM.
    For me, it is RTC’s book – due for release in October apparently, that will be the more illuminating and, it won’t be open to the same attacks re blog postings, etc.
    On the issue of what HMRC can recover, it’s not beyond the bounds of reason that TRFC will be untouched by HMRC/BDO but, the property portfolio may deemed as subject to a charge of ‘gratiutous alienation’.
    Can’t see HMRC voiding the sale to Sevco 5088 but can certainly see them seeking retrieval or recompense with regard to purchase price of Ibrox/Murray Park.
    Long way to go mind 😉
    Mind you, try taking that to court when dealing with the club formerly known as rangers !
  47. From KDS
    Heard a wee rumour that the reason given in much of the press for the uncertainty of whether he was properly signed in time was not that the SFA computer had a ‘glitch’ but that the player, his agent and the h*ns had been in a stand off over terms and staring at each other waiting to see who would blink first close to midnight. Templeton and his agent allegedly got up and walked away at zero hour and McCoist, keichin it, called them back into the room and agreed to Templetons demands……………………………..but the clock had struck midnight, sometime before, and the glass coach had turned into a pumpkin. The SFA site had closed and he was effectively still a Hearts player.A glitch suddenly developed , didn’t it? Could you imagine the stooshie that would take place if the h*ns had a late registration refused?
  48. Well said DeProf. I realise I’m in the minority here, but Phil just comes across as a thin-skinned kite flyer preaching to the converted. I’ve seen little of his writing that is interested in challenging his readership or contributing to a reasoned debate. Come to think of it he’s a perfect fit for the Sun.
    You’d think the Washington Post had pulled Woodward and Bernstein’s latest work judging by the reaction of some.
    Phil’s ‘allegiances’ are about the only things he doesn’t hide. He does a good job of hiding any semblance of balance and any comments that are critical of him or his arguments.
    The whole affair leaves me with a worse opinion of both him and the Currant.
    I think we all knew something like this went on, but sure maybe the electric bill hadn’t been paid, bless.
  50. Nowoldandgrumpy,
    I think even we are getting soft on the Templeton thing.
    Shouldn’t someone on this site (or even the msm?.) have questioned the validity of the signing if it hadn’t been completed within the transfer window?!
    They even admitted it wasn’t done on time! But it was just 5 minutes…Oh how we laughed. Wee Sally was relieved though. No doubt CO had an IT tech flown in quick to fix it, I doubt even Superally himself couldn’t tell a server fault from a dead battery in a cordless mouse.
    Regardless of the reason / fault, if something isn’t complete in time, its too late!
    Would the SFA have been so accomodating with anyone else?
    No team should be able to have special treatment, the system depends on the rules….when is it ok to do stuff outwith the window? 5 minutes?, 10? 50? Next morning? No, a deadline is just that.
    Were we all sleeping or have even we become blinded by the amount of rulebending or the futility of complaining?
    And another thing, the deal was done at Murray Park so we are told. What is the process for registering a signing then? Is paperwork signed, then what? faxed, or scanned then emailed? If its just paperwork just handed to the SFA? From there to Hampden by what…car? Transporter beam maybe..
    If it was an IT glitch, where was it? At the SFA or Murray Park? Whose system failed? Many glitches take more than 5 minutes to fix, even switching off and on can take as much as that. Something is fishy here, as you suggest, if they used the glitch as an excuse it doesn’t really work. But then neither do the rules, do they?
    Fishiness still abounds
    That is how low the Dignati have sunk. From the above one can only conclude that they are exceptionally proud of their misdeeds.
  52. What are the chances of their being no computer fault either at Murray Park or at the SFA.
    This is all too convenient. Was there some kind of mad last minute rush by all of the teams in Scotland trying to register players at midnight and overloaded the system, no just one team apparently.
    How many times has the system crashed at this late time on transfer deadline day, none that I know of.
    If the system crashed at midnight then he was not registered in time, as he would have to have been registered and the information with the SFA before the clock struck 12. Anything received 1 second after 12 is too late.
    Yes Captain H, we have let this one go very easily.
  53. Why is anyone surprised at anything that the Scottish Football Authorities will do to favour their
    love child ( Sevco/Rangers Tribute Act). While in the past they have manage to conceal a significant part of the corruption that has taken place, they are now openly seen to be institutionally biased towards one member club and do not care, as they think they are untouchable
    All efforts must be made by the “Internet Bampots” and all other decent football supporters to remove every single person from these organisations that has permitted this scandal to continue.
    It will not be easy, but the reward will save Scottish Football.
    This tosser is intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity. It’s about time his loquaciousness was rammed down his throat for him to boak on.
    A nice wee ruling in the FTT(T), or somesuch would do the job nicely. Even just getting knocked out of one of the cups in the meantime might serve the purpose.
    Can’t wait to see him taken down a peg or two. Sir Alistair’s predictable gibberish doesn’t bother me as much as this guy’s get-it-up-yiz self-serving boastful moonbeamery.
    Loathsome spiv.
  55. vMcCoist and Green are committed to opposing any move to have history books rewritten even though they accepted they had to begin again as a new concern after Rangers, the club with history, slipped into liquidation and closed. That should mean the titles aren’t really any of their business.
    Re• Who’s the M@son in the Black
    There is not single word on my post I wrote which is not factual. What I did not highlight was that the event was not organised by CO, he like me was an invited guest. The two guys who ran the line were brothers (so work that one out) and had just retired I think at that time from top tier football. The referee’s told me he sold caravans for a living when not officiating in games and he I’m sure went on to write a column in a tabloid when he retired and the Masonic Lodge was in Cambuslang. All of those involved and who played on the day worked in the same business as I and this was I suppose corporate entertaining we were all enjoying. The company that organised the event as I said had an office in the Broomloan Stand and whilst they had no direct involvement with ibrox their sister company did. There was about 30 of us went to the establishment in Cambuslang including those I mentioned for a bit of nosh and a pint and a few team pub games as part of the day. I am in no way refering that Mr O or the other 3 who worked or had worked for the SFA were M@son’s but I found it ironic being in such a venue with 3 referees. Our caravan salesman BTW was a very entertaining guy.
    Sorry miki, not sure posts like that do this blog any credit. I can’t any see difference in your 00.55 reaction and some some of the responses to Mr Phil by said canines. It’s all too polarizing. Best way to avoid the two extremes is by plotting a course equally distant from both.
    I think I miss the calm voice of reason that was Mr or Mrs RTC.
    One more thing before Zebedee send’s me to bed !
    I’ve been trying to get my head around all this saga. How exactly did the new Yorkshire Owner of Ibrox Park, Murray Park and The famous Car Park manage to buy that lot for 5.5 M ? I couldn’t even have done that in Monopoly !
    Something definately stinks !, and it ain’t that rotten fish Gazza hid in someone’s boot !
    There must be a Paper Trail somewhere which crosses the t’s and dot’s the i’s ?
    Or, is that asking too much ?
    ======================
    That is why Malcolm Cohen of BDO will be there. To find out exactly what happened and who did what deal with whom.
    I think the fact that Craig Whyte and the person from Duff & Phelps (I can’t remember the name) discussed administration months before it happened (Mark Daly programme – emails) and how they wanted it to go will be very significant. I would not suggest for a second that they were contriving an insolvency event, with the purpose of failing to pay the creditors tens of millions of pounds they were owed. That would be appalling. However they did discuss how quick and easy the whole thing could be and limiting the fees to £500k. Given that the purpose of administration is to keep the company afloat, and clear all debt by agreement it is difficult not to be suspicious.
    With regard the selling price, and it being agreed in advance of the CVA failure (which was a certainty) it is questionable whether the best interests of the creditors was paramount at that stage. One would almost think that saving the business (the company was dead) remained the primary objective. At the time of the CVA failure it should have ceased as a consideration and everything should have been to maximise the creditors’ return.
    Hard to see how that could have happened without the old owner Craig Whyte, the administrator Duff & Phelps, and the new owner Charles Green all being in agreement. A complicit SFA and SPL tried to secure SPL football (an integral part of the plan) however the fans and places like RTC’s blog stopped that.
    Couldn’t agree more with you on the Miki comments, as RTC often said there are plenty other sites where these type of comments are welcome
  64. If a midnight transfer deadline actually means 00.05. – in my best Basil Fawlty exasperated voice – What is the point ? I mean what IS the point ?
  65. So Templeton may have signed after midnight. So what? The SFA’s incompetence & help to Sevco knows no bounds. It’s not new either. Farry/Cadete?
    Hearts get weaker but have some cash, Sevco are paying more than they wanted for a player. Sounds good to me. McCoist is looking more and more like a cheque book manager unable to fashion a side capable of beating SFL3 teams away from Ibrox. There is no chance he can keep his band of journeymen happy for 18 months. Won’t be long before we see “Green lied to me…” stories from disaffected players in the MSM.
    What is important is FTT ruling & the independent investigation into dual contracts.
    The Sun has apologised. It wasn’t the greatest apology and it may have been driven by other factors, but it was an apoplogy…
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2004/jul/07/pressandpublishing.football
    Murdoch Jr also apologised under questioning from a Liverpool MP at the Leveson enquiry, but again that was more driven by a line of questioning under pressure rather than an ephipany
    Kelvin MacKenzie is a different kettle of fish (on soooooo many levels).
    I still won’t buy it – not because of Hillsborough but because it panders to the lowest (worst?) common denominators of British mentality. And it’s Murdoch (Sr & Jr).
    My immediate thought from a quick look at that is that, in this legal document, Rangers Football Club PLC is identified legally as “THE CLUB”… I quote:
    THE RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB PLC (Appellants)
    – and –
    HER MAJESTY’S REVENUE & CUSTOMS (Respondents)
    Background Circumstances
    The Appellants are a famous Scottish Premier League Football Club. From time to time, players are transferred to and from the Club.
    🙂
  69. Taken from Paul McConville’s blog,
    “Where they have burned books, they will end in burning human beings.” – Heinrich Heine, 1823.
    What we have seen today amounts to a technological, 22nd Century mob book burning. The creator of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee, stated that the Web is for ‘Everyone.’ Everyone includes those people that you are diametrically opposed to in thought and in deed. If you are not prepared to live your electronic life with that notion, then throw your computer, broadband and mobile phones in the ocean, you abuse free speech and freedom of expression.
    ” . . . better a thousandfold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech. The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people, and entombs the hope of the race.” – Charles Bradlaugh.
